About the Author

After making the decision to stop relaxing her hair in March 2008, Senora Harris had a tough time with fully embracing her natural hair. Her foreign kinks and coils were seemingly unmanageable, and being in an environment with un-supportive high school peers and some family members, she found confidence hard to muster up. After a while of fighting with her curls, she realized that she needed to relearn her hair, and love it for everything that it could do. Senora is a big DIYer; she does not have to spend a whole Saturday at the salon anymore, and she has a lot of pride in wearing styles that she did herself.

Senora hopes to help eliminate the myth that hair with any type of curl/kink/coil cannot look nice or be manageable. She loves every tightly curled strand on her head, and hopes to help others love theirs too!

Born and raised in Houston, TX, Senora is currently studying journalism at the University of Texas at Austin. She enjoys spending her free time by hanging out with family and friends, and lurking the web about the latest in natural hair.
