I lose much more hair w/a wide toothed comb than when using my hands. It's also easier to find small knots and work them through a few strands at a time than it would be w/a comb. As far as product is concerned, no gel unless it's rainy and even then, it's the tiniest amount I can get away with (Angel by Deva). All I really need winter or summer is Heaven in Hair. That is the best stuff I've ever used in my life and I've used a lot of stuff! It's pricey though, so I combine it with some One conditional (also Deva) that has been watered down. The watered down conditioner is great for co-washing and detangling. Finish with the H in H and you're good. No dry hair, frizz, nothing but well-defined, healthy curls.

Don't use your hands? Your hands are much gentler than a comb...are these tips for type 2s because gel can be very drying, and there's no humidity to block in the winter.

Strange, at DevaChan Salon, they said to use your fingers to comb your hair because it's gentler than a wide toothed comb...

Great tips! I'm a little concerned about the honey recommendation, though. I know a lot of curlies can't do humectants in the winter.
