While I'm dubious about growing long, tightly curled hair fast, I agree that the key to retaining length consistently is to cut back on or completely cut out heat. Specifically, I believe that this is important if you don't want to have to do as much trimming and if you want long, curly, coily natural hair. Not just long "stretched" or long straightened natural hair.

I recently cut out heat completely after suffering heat damage and am not interested in re-visiting heat. My hair is thriving and coily - I love the texture and the fullness. For now, I am sacrificing length, but I feel after four years my coils and curls will drop and show length.

I love this model's hair and Teri LaFlesh's (creator of the tightly curly method). I am hoping that my tightly curly densely packed hair grows to at least bra-strap length.
