If the conditioning treatment does not work - have your Dr. check your hormone and thyroid levels. One of the main symptoms of thyroid dysfunction is thinning, dry hair.

Stop using a brush! I only use a very wide tooth comb ( I call it my rake) and I only use it in the shower with lots of sulphate free conditioner. I start at the ends and very slowly work my way up but never too close to the scalp. Don't use any product with Sulphate, alcohol or waxes. Use a micro-fibre towel to scrunch dry your hair. An old cotton t-shirt works well too :-) Good luck and don't give up! My hair did the same thing and it took a while for it to come back and it's better than it was when I was a teenager and I'm 51 now :-)

The same thing pretty much happened to me! I have always had long, wavy curls since childhood and I figured I would "fight" nature and straighten my hair with a flat iron. I did this for almost 2 years until my hair started looking like a hay stack! Finally, I decided to just embrace my waves by applying mousse and gel after shampooing and just letting it air dry! For about a month, it seemed like my curl had just vanished! Then, finally, I noticed more shine than ever before, beautiful long waves, and body! My curls/waves were back!!! I will never take advantage of them again, for I have learned to let go and love what I was born with!!
