Thankfully I just have the very bottom layer of my hair stay straight so it’s not enough to actually notice. Amberdm, have you gotten a Deva cut before? If not, I hand down recommend it. They give you a cut based on your hair needs so you know you’ll get great results from it. It might also solve some of your bottom layer problems.

First, let me endorse Jessicurl Gelebration. This product is great! Not to heavy and has great hold, perfect for wavy hair.

Second, my bottom layer of hair is also straight and it aggravates me to no end. Sometimes I take a curling iron to the bottom layer just to give it some curl.

Waveofmedusa (btw loooove the name) my entire bottom lay of hair is straight. Weirdest thing ever, but apparently it’s common with wavy hair even though I never knew that. When I got my hair cut, she cut my hair that stays straight shorter than everything else. And since it’s along the nape of my neck, it doesn’t look strange if I wear it wavy or straight. It works out well! I got a Deva cut and it worked wonders. Check it out and I’ll be writing my next blog about that and posting a video that I did when I was getting it done.

It’s refreshing to find a blog dedicated to waves. Thank you for taking the time to write about my hair type! Okay, I’m more wavy/curly, but w/e. =P I do have one problem: I have tons of straight hair beneath the top canopy. What can I do to hide it?

I’m looking forward to following this blog. I am in my mid 30′s and just now learning to love my wavy/curly hair. But working my way through products (with allergies) and trial and error is a pain. I would love some tips from and for other wavies. Products, styles, ideas for various thicknesses — anything! My husband is a wavy too and he just experienced the absolute wonder of leave-in conditioner. What a difference! Cheers!

Just for your personal benefit, I am TOTALLY in love with the AG Volume Foam. There’s a link to it in the blog because it’s one I’m reviewing. Seriously, miracle worker. Not heavy (which is super important for us wavies) and a little of it goes such a long way. I’m getting excited about using it tomorrow just by talking about it now! I’m about to start the video on them now so look for that within the next week.

Thanks for blogging the waves! I’ll be interested to see how the reviews turn out, and I think filming a cut would be awsome as well. I’ve been thinking of moving away from gel as well, so I am going to experiment with a few things…maybe a curl cream with some hold, mousse, or a spray gel. I’m ok with crunch as long as it will scrunch out once dry.
