I just wanted to commment because this method has worked for me. I have used the 2 methods.

1. half honey/half olive oil mixture (which also has lightening properties), let set (the longer it sets the more active the lightening properties),apply and rinse after 30 mins or so. My hair showed a result after 2 treatments or so from a very dark brown to a chocolate brown.

2.(*THIS NEXT METHOD WORKED SO WELL THAT I WAS SUPRISED AFTER I LET MY HAIR DRY AND REALLY TOOK A LOOK AT IT IN THE SUN* be advised if you have super-sensitive hair this may be a little harsh, I would recommend not attempting treatments too often, but I am 9 months pregnant and it is very safe and it did lighten my hair (not from brown to blonde, but more from a chocolate brown to a chestnut brown. I am sure if I use this 3 or 4 more times over the year my hair will be a light brown)
-I used honey, olive oil and lemon juice (all which have lightening properties) and let the mixture set for 30 mins, applied to my hair, threw a showercap on and rinsed after 40 mins. (the longer you keep on the better it will work) You are going to want to deep condition afterwards just as this is a tad bit drying, but this method is 100% natural and is not drastic, the results are more like a highlight of lightening not 2 coloured hair with roots visible.

I just wanted to comment because this method has worked for me and I wanted to give a heads up to all my nautral curlies that there is a way to add a bit of colour without sacrificing your natural mane.

How does prior use of henna affect the honey lightning process? I haven't used henna in over a year but still have the color, will the honey lighten the henna at all?
