What is a pineapple?

Pineappling was developed by our very own NaturallyCurly community members and is a go-to method for curlies of all curl patterns. The technique keeps curls on top of the head while you sleep to prevent flat, smashed curls and gives curls life and bounce between wash days.

For kinky, coily girls this is a great way to stretch your coils too, depending on the length of your hair. Keep reading for a step-by-step guide to pineapple coily hair.

Step 1

Use a moderately loose scrunchie to put your hair into a hair ponytail.

Step 2

If you have shorter or more coily hair, use two or three scrunchies to make a few high ponytails. The key is to keep the hair from the back and sides of your head while sleeping.

Step 3 (optional”>

Use a  satin scarf to wrap around your pineappled hair. You can also skip this is if you sleep on a satin pillowcase.

Finished!

This technique will keep your curls from being completely flattened in the morning. Just take the high ponytail (pineapple”> in the morning and fluff!
