With all of these things, I can at least agree with five of them, and I'm a wavy! Frizz, unpredictability, second day hair, flat top(I actually want the opposite, but you get the point) and styling time. I swim a lot and I don't like how it takes my hair 3+hrs. to dry!

I can relate to all of these, especially 3, 7, and 9. I'm limited to 3 hairstyles: ponytail, bun, or letting my hair down (then pulling it back up because it gets too frizzy)

I can relate to most of these, though I don't go to a stylist (I don't like other people doing my hair). I've found when I'm pressed for time a ponytail or bun does find. You can dress it up with a headband or a skinny scarf. I would think that would be work acceptable. The one I don't understand is the unpredictability and 'looking decent'. Unless you go to work with your hair looking the exact way it did when you rolled out of bed, the general consensus would be that it would look decent. I think we still have the straight hair mentality of looking decent, where everything is laid to the side and every hair in it's "proper" place.

i defintly agree with all of the above. I would love to wear my hair curly all the time but i dont want people to be starring at me like i have some alien on my head! why do people stare so much when a black woman wears her hair curly? when i wear my hair straight, no one stares or acts like they want to touch it. but if its curly, i get pitiful looks, like, "aww you poor thing" as if its such a curse or a punishment to have naturally curly hair. the fact is, it isnt as accepted as straight hair is and its not fair. i want to love my curls but its hard when society deams curly hair as un-kept and unruly and it means your hair isnt done if its not straight! says who? who made up that dumb rule!?

Good for you Rose Gregg. I am 57 and have worn my hair "natural" since high school. When I went to have have my graduation photo taken I remember the photographer's assistant came over to me and started trying to arrange my short hair into individual curls. I just ran my fingers through it when she was done to break up her fake curls and the picture, taken in 1970, looks totally ahead of its time. Almost everyone else in my class were photographed in beehives and teased hairstyles from the '60s. My look is timeless.

I am 56 years old and have battled my curly hair my whole life. I still get looks and comments about my hair but I figure if you don't like it don't look at me. I love curly hair. I am old but at least I don't have my hair clinging to my head like a helmut. No one tells a bald man or curly haired man to get a wig or straighten his hair. I have been liberated since I found naturallycurly.com. I think all us curly girls should unite, whether we are white, black, Spanish, etc. We are beautiful too.

If the #1 concern is a good stylist, then why oh why don't more people post (and update) reviews in CurlSalons? I move frequently and have so much trouble finding someone to properly cut and style my curls. I promise to post a review whenever and wherever I find a good stylist, and hope all others who depend on this website will do the same.
