Did you blow your budget on highlights this summer, and now you have the urge to go darker for the winter? We know the feeling. Jessica lightened her hair professionally at the salon for the summer and now she is looking for a deep cherry red, so she decided to go the at-home DIY route.

This was her very first time dyeing her hair at home so she did her research:

How to Prep
  1. Always do a test patch on a small section of hair to see how the dye will react with the current color of your hair and to check that you do not have any allergic reaction
  2. Hair should be clean, and towel dried
  3. Put on a t-shirt you don’t mind getting dye on
  4. Protect your hairline and ears with petroleum jelly

What You’ll Need
  • Plastic bowl, for mixing
  • Dye brush
  • Clips
  • Gloves
  • Hair dye of your choice, Jessica used Bigen Semi-Permanent Hair Color in Medium Cherry Brown

To see Jessica’s full process from beginning to end, along with a look at the final product, watch the video! The oil-rich, conditioning formula’s honey, beeswax and sunflower left her hair feeling soft and her color vibrant.
