We tend to discuss stories and share links about hair–even in our off time. This is everything we’re talking about this week at the NaturallyCurly office.

New York Is Cracking Down On Health Stores Selling Fraud Supplements

If you live in New York and get your health supplements from GNC, Target, Walgreens, or Walmart, chances are high that you weren’t ingesting what was on the bottle label. The attorney general’s office conducted tests on four top-selling herbal supplement brands recently. Studies showed that the labels claimed to contain herbal, natural ingredients–but instead, contained cheap fillers like powdered rice. The Brooklyn Reader says this has led to a national crackdown of major retailers.

Satin Bonnets Are Causing An Uproar In Relationships Lately, It Seems.

Last week’s Real Housewives of Atlanta episode featured singer Kandi Burruss expressing to the viewers how her sex life has ‘gone downhill’, with newlywed Todd Tucker. His excuse? Her satin bonnet she wears at night–he claimed it turns him off from her. On Atlanta Black Star, Taylor Gordon backs up Tucker’s claim by saying, “For a man, it can all be overwhelming…While the Color Purple jab may always launch a comb-tossing barrage, women should remember that many men simply struggle when it comes to communication in a relationship.” Do you agree?

Lion Babe Is Taking Her Talents To The UK This Spring. Rawr.

When we are not gawking at Lion Babe’s luscious, finger-twirling, wind-blowing worthy hair, we are jamming out to her eclectic electro pop songs like Jungle Lady–think FKA Twigs’ dance partner, meets Erykah Badu’s choir student, meets Beyonce’s stage costume tailor. And now Lion Babe will be performing alongside Seinabo Sey in the UK. Here are the spring tour dates, and you are welcome.

Miley Shades Kim K’s Platinum Hair, Forgets She Has The Same Hair.

News flash–you know, for those of you living on Mars–Kim Kardashian is platinum blonde. Like even blonder than she was on her Instagram selfie debut last week. And while we were being blinded by how light her roots suddenly were, we missed Miley Cyrus’ feed. Miley had to let us know–she posted a Photoshopped picture of her bleaching Mrs. West’s hair. Samantha, writer for The Gloss, seems to get us. “If only she could have Photoshopped herself into a photo of Jared Leto and his hairstylist during his transformation to blonde. Bonus points if it was post-eyebrow shave. Or if she did a face swap proving that she and Justin Bieber are indeed the exact same human being. That would have been magic.” NaturallyCurly world, are we loving Kim K’s new blonde?

Grey Hair Isn’t Just A Trend–Ask Michelle L.

Brooklyn native Michelle takes her hair seriously–her mother has been one of the driving forces in helping her to remain natural her entire life. And now her hair is grey. And she wants people to understand it is not to be taken lightly. “My grey hair is my lifestyle. I call her diamond. I don’t wear her she wears me. She defines my style and beliefs on being natural.” Would you go grey?

There Is A New Alopecia And Hair Loss Remedy On The Market. But Does It Really Work?

Dr. Blount and Jared Gates have created a new hair loss and alopecia treatment called Hair Loss Protocol. So far, the research and user testiomonies admit that, as all hair loss treatments, it will take weeks before results are noticed. WKRG says, “Hair Loss Protocol, also called Rebuild Hair, is a completely natural alopecia treatment that doesn’t require the use of any medications and expensive baldness treatments…[it] stops hair loss and promotes hair growth.” Have you heard of it? Would you recommend it to your friends who suffer from hair loss?

This Narrative Just Gave Our Hair Journeys A Shot Of Espresso.

Somehow the most cliche saying in the curly hair community just became beautiful and unique all over again: I Am Not My Hair. Read Anya’s touching story of cutting out her first weave. In it, she refers to her hair as an enslaved princess. “When I got my first relaxer I was in need of desirability….It’s what you see in yourself that constitutes the beauty you are able to give the world. You don’t have to cut off all your hair to do that, but sometimes you do have to journey through the realm of the unknown in order to sort out why you are worth it…” Thank you, Anya, for keeping us on track throughout this journey.
