Happy Veterans’ Day curly world! We have received questions from our curly service women about making their curly hair regulation. Styling natural hair can be a challenge all on its own. Add into the mix a piece of headwear (did you see us battle graduation caps?”> and a few strict rules and regulations, and you’ve got a hair-induced headache on your hands.

Luckily we have so many generous curlies in our community who are happy to share their experiences, like LeLeah who uses “lots of two strand twists, flat twist, and braids styles and updos, or wigs.” And Nydia who does “two twists in the front of my hair that reach down to my ear (to keep my bangs and hair out of my face”> and a braided semi loose bun. I never tie my hair too tight, I can’t afford a receding hairline! And it’s all in regulation and kinda cute.”

One piece of advice from Nydia that was a major aha! moment is to “always try to find a patrol cap that is a few sizes bigger.”

YouTuber onlyjmarie likes to wear just one style for the whole week, this saves her time and effort on her early mornings, plus minimizing manipulation is good for your hair health! To see more of onlyjmarie’s tips on work hairstyles in the army, check out her helpful video.
