I used to have really long hair, and my hair is super thick, so my family would call me ‘Cousin It’ from the Adams Family because I could hide my entire face with my hair. It was fun too, walking around like that scaring my sister..

Unfortunately, I had some unsavory nicknames because no hairdresser ever told me NOT to comb my hair – Afro, Lucy (from Peanuts, helmet-head), and Dust Bunny. I didn’t know what to do with my curls those days but they’re super shiny and healthy now, 20 years after junior high torture. My mom though has always called me Curlytop, which I love.

Speaking of Peanuts, I offer up this pertinent quote from Frieda: “People always expect more when you have naturally curly hair.” Indeed!

My soccer teammates affectionately called me “Fluff.” It fit me–I was this teeny little girl with a big fluffy head of hair back in the late 70s. I always thought it was a cute nickname.

I call my son Curly Fry, because he has beautiful curls that are prettier than a fry. I just love his curls!

My cousins called me “mine apollo”(french word) -a type of instant noodle brand which is made in Mauritius. Now I laugh when I think of that. THEY don’t have my curls:)))

my friends call me crazytop, like the girl in HOW TO BE POPULAR. i don’t mind, because they each “own” one of my ringlets!

My sister calls me broccoli. My curls are tight and when I cut it short I looked like a stick with a small curly top. She got my baby neices to call me that instead of my name.

When it was long (to my waist)and would curl way up to my shoulders she would call me lolipop. Very big top and stick skinny bottom
