It is important to trim the hair around every 6 weeks to remove the ends. Trimming will increase the life of the perm.

That's interesting. According to the hair types I appear to be a Type 2A naturally with loose S-shaped waves. But if I put mousse in my hair and blow dry with a diffuser it gets to be very curly (loose curls) with lots of body to the hair. Never considered a perm because it gets so curly with using a diffuser/mousse and I can just wash the curly hairdo out at the end of the day and go back to wavy.

Hey Noni863! I completely agree with Tracey! Curlformers and bantu knot-outs are amazing! If you seem to still be having trouble or have any other questions, feel free to contact me at my Twitter handle @SamanthaBerley.

Thank you for your input, howtopermhair! When trying anything new, especially a chemical treatment such as a perm, always have your hair tested and consult a hair care professional with perming experience!

Good article.
When considering a perm, always get you hair tested to check if your hair is suitable to be permed.
