Living in the heat and humidity of South Florida, Heather Frankel’s fine curls often turned to frizz. One day, she saw a curly Brazilian friend, and her hair was noticeably longer and straighter.
“She told me about the treatment,” Frankel says.
That would be the Brazilian Keratin Treatment — a curl relaxer that has taken the United States by storm in recent months. Known as Brazilian Keratin Treatment, Brazilian Hair Straightening, Brazilian Blowout or just BKT, it first came to the United States a few years ago. But over the past year, a growing number of hairdressers have embraced it.

Frankel, who was considering doing thermal reconditioning, is thrilled with the results. She says hair has body and shine, and only takes five minutes to style. And frizz is a thing of the past.
“It opens the door to hairstyles I’ve always wanted but didn’t think I could have,” she says. “Now you can see the layers, you can see the highlights, you can see the flips. I am so happy – you have no idea.”

The BRAZILIAN BLOWOUT brand is different from the others mentioned here. It does not make the hair stick-straight, but rather it kills the frizz and reduces the curl by about 75%. As a result, it is easy to manage, maintains some body, can be worn wavy, or can be blown out in just a few minutes. It is also formaldehyde-free and is FINISHED when you leave the salon; no list of rules about ponytails, clips, and not washing your hair for 3 days. I am in love with it, as a client AND a stylist!

I’m actually doing it right before my birthday. It’s only straight for the 1st 4 days but once you shampoo it then it has loose waves. Can’t wait! =D

I just got my BKT treatment and I can’t believe I took this long to do it!!!! I LOVE IT!! Unlike the Japanese that I did 2 years ago and it destroyed my hair.. I was traumatized and finally my friend convinced me to do it since I looked like a frizz ball all summer… nways I did it with this girl from sickoffrizz.com she’s really nice I just wanted to put in a good word for her! I did the BKT treatment myself and absolutely love it!! It’s the best beauty decision I’ve ever made. My hair is wavy, coars and frizzy – BKT kept it straight and frizz free for 2 1/2 months. It’s now been 3 1/2 months & the waves are starting to come back. But, my hair is softer and less frizzy than ever before. You don’t have to pay someone at a salon to do this for you – you can very easily do it yourself at home. I suggest that you do some research before you get this treatment applied. I have seen prices as cheap as 120 for a treatment and application – to 600 for the same thing!
Also make sure you purchase a formaldehyde free keratin. I have used and recommend sunliss.
It is by far the best keratin from Brazil.

WHY ARE PEOPLE SPENDING SO MUCH MONEY?!
Okay, I came across this brand, ENCANTO, and it’s really really good. I paid less than $60.00 for an 8 oz kit! (Good for about 3 treatments). I just did it like a week ago, and my hair is amazing. Best of all, it only took me like 2 hours. Definitely buying a bunch as x-mas gifts for my girlfriends.
Oh, best of all, i swear my hair is like a mirror and reflects light. Okay, so I’m becoming a narcissist. BUT, YOU WOULD TOO AFTER BKT!

Wassup??>Okay you guys.. So i am a combination of 3b,3c,and 4a. majority of my hair is 3b. I have 4a in the “kitchen”back of the neck area lol… and 3c on the sides of my head [by my temples]…. It frustrates me to have to tame my hair everrryy freakin’ day.. so Ive gone to the world of Weave. My hair seems to have a major history of breaking.. Ive always had long hair from toddler until about 13…like the single Aaliyah’s . My hair went thru a terrible breakage point.. broke off all the way up to like a inch past my ears[devastation].No one seems to know the problem. It always gets temporarily correct then it breaks off again. My hair grew 3 inches past my shoulders at age 16. Then broke off again..Its just never been the same since my youth.And ive went through the stages off dying my hair[which broke the back of my hair off to only a half an inch long,unbelievable right?], perming my hair, pressing my hair, all types of breakage treatments. Now i’m 20. Have been 100% natural for 2 years ..no perms what so ever. I managed to get the back of my hair to grow to 3 inches long. Now my hair is 2 inches past my shoulders with bangs in front. Basically my whole reason of typing this lol… i want to get the Brazilian Keratin Treatment… what do you guys think? ive been looking at before and after results of people..reading up on it and everything..It seems to heal and nurture the hair back to health. All after pictures ive seen of people, there hair has grown significantly. Do you think this would be a good choice? I just want my longg hairrrr baccckkkkkk.. I just got it done at Shane Hair Style Color in Sherman Oaks Ca. I absolutely LOVE my hair and reccomened the service! Always check the Brazilian Blowout website to make sure that your stylist is certified-I shoped around before I decided to go with him and found that there are alot of salons around claiming to have the treatment when they are really carring a knock off. WOW! I decided to try this treatment beacause summers in NC are brutal. The humidity makes my 3b hair 3x bigger. I’m lucky, I found a wonderful (and to my suprise, AFFORDABLE)stylist (Anson/Howard Jacobs Salon in Raleigh) and !Voila! straight, silky hair. I cannot stop looking at it and either can my co-workers. It’s a drastic change from my big hair. Everyone loves it!

If you are skeptical about doing the Brazilian blowout, I would HIGHLY recommend that you try it. I have tried every gel, oil, shampoo, you name it, to tame my frizz. Wisconsin gets extremely humid in the summer and it is embarrassing how bad it can get. I just got the treatment done today and I am AMAZED at how quickly I could see it work. First, you get your hair shampooed 2-3 times (my favorite part). Then the stylist adds the keratin stuff to your hair, blow drys meticulously, and straightens your hair. Then they shampoo it out, and blowdry. After the second round of shampooing, I couldn’t believe how smooth my hair looked – despite being towel dried. Never in my life have I been able to just blowdry my hair and leave it. I always spend 20-35 min getting my hair ready in the mornings. Now I will be able to blow dry it (or let it air dry – another first!). Maybe the company has changed the products, but they smell wonderful. They have that acai berry stuff that makes it smell like all other fruity/flowery shampoos. My eyes watered a little bit as the stylist was adding the keratin and blow drying – but I’ve also experienced that when getting my hair hilighted. I couldn’t be happier with how it looks!

I paid £75 and If i would decided to do it again I’d prefer to pay extra money to make sure make sure quality of the product is great and hairdresser is qualified to do the treatment. After all I’d love the treatment to last up to 3 months.
