    Review:
Parwin did a wonderful job cutting and highlighting my hair. I appreciated the hand holding when it came to the color and advice on the length. Parwin is clearly passionate about hair and noted that she regularly attends classes to sharpen her skills. We had a lovely conversation and I felt very comfortable in her hands. It's been a week and I'm really enjoying my color and the cut. Before working with Parwin, I'd never had a stylist dry my curly hair the way I do--scrunching with a towel and applying product the same way followed by gentle drying with a diffuser. It showed me her understanding of curls. Both before and during the coloring process, Parwin was discussing the approach, colors, etc. with one of the other women who has 25 years of experience doing color. Don't let that dismay you, she doesn't consult because she can't do it solo, Parwin is just eager to get it just right and learn from the master while doing it. The cut and color took a really long time--3 1/2 hours, but I'm new to color and it had been way too long since my last cut, so she had a lot to do. I can't tell you the price since it was a gift, but Parwin mentioned that she sees a lot of students in the area--poor grad students in particular--because her prices are very reasonable. I'd absolutely recommend Parwin and Vero to any friend, and in fact, that's how I found out about Parwin. Just mind the parking. Many of the side streets have a two hour limit. Thanks Parwin!

Parwin is the most talented stylist who has ever touched my hair!! Not only does she do a great job cutting it, but she also takes the time to show me how to style it using the Devacurl system of products. With every other stylist I have worked with, I have had to go home and restyle my hair right after- but not Parwin. I hihgly recommend her to everyone!

She does a great job cutting my hair as well as taking the time to show me how to style it using the DevaCurl system. Laura is a keeper! I have continually-graying 2B hair that used to be much curlier once upon a time and have come to the conclusion that short is the only way to go. Laura delivers a great cut, truly listens to her clients, and is reasonably-priced. Being so close to Cafe Zoe and Cole Coffee doesn't hurt either...

I came to Vero For Hair after hearing via Yelp that this salon would be doing a DevaCurl haircut demonstration. Being recently unemployed and a mom of three grade schoolers, I have not had a chance for a hair cut in quite a while. This event and Laura were a godsend! Laura asked me what I wanted, what I might like to try, it was all about me! Laura explained to me the whole process, the whys, whens, wherefores of the DevaCurl cut and the products as well. Laura was careful and deliberate and has a serious eye for detail. She was gentle with my curls. My haircut was amazing! I loved the way my curls looked, the shape was so very flattering to my pudgy, round face and showed off my curls. I loved the salon and the other stylists as well. The salon was clean and brightly lit. They offered me a beverage and even a snack. Thanks Parwin for the awesome coffee cake! They were all very friendly and from what I could see showed the same attention to detail and care for their clients and their hair. I will definitely be coming back to Laura at Vero for Hair for my next haircut and all future ones. Another reason to Shop Oakland!

My curly hairs looks a lot better since I've been going to Laura. I used to pull my hair back because it just didn't look good down, but now I almost always have it down. Laura will give you a good curly hair cut using the Deva method, and for much less money than you'd likely pay somewhere else! She's not super flashy or "edgy" as someone mentioned, but she's a good hairstylist who always calls you back and can usually give you an appointment with just a couple days' notice.

I go to Parwin whenever I am in the Bay Area. She does a great job with my hair and listens to what I want. My hair is thick and wavy, with frizzy areas in the front. Parwin also gave me longish bangs that nicely frame my face, and I don’t have to use a flat iron to get them to behave. She is very attentive and friendly--I highly recommend her!!

Jessica failed to return two calls I'd made in a week and was rude when I did manage to speak with her. I eventually tried the salon's direct line, figuring maybe something was wrong with her cell. When she answered I told her about the unreturned calls and she just said, "Oh", like she could care less. She said she is referring her clients to other stylists at Vero, because she's booked for a couple months. But when I told her I am willing to wait a couple months to book with her, she inexplicably and rudely refused to take a future appointment with me even at a time she WILL BE available. Just bizarre. I'd been polite, so who knows? Maybe she got sick of dealing with curly hair. After all, it takes more time, so it isn't as cost effective. Bottom line: she was completely unprofessional. But I learned something too ... I'm grateful I didn't get an appointment with her because her attitude would put me (and others - curly or not) at risk for not getting good hair care. Respecting clients (and potential clients) are skills every bit as important as alleged expertise. And for now on I'll be warning people about this stylist. That said, I'd consider taking a chance with another Vero stylist at some point and would be open to writing a generous and positive review if warranted. Some basic respect and a decent cut is all I'm looking for.

I am a die-hard Madusalon fan, but I live in Oakland, and happily make the trek 4x/year for the best haircuts ever from Ivy. However, I just had a baby and can't be too far away since I'm nursing, so I booked an appt with Laura on NC reccomendations. Firstly, I was disappointed to see how totally un-stylish all the salon workers are. I don't know if when I described 'edgy' any of them would have any idea what I was talking about. One of the stylists was wearing hiking books and another was in running shoes and a hoodie. Really? These are your work outfits? The whole atmosphere is FRUMPY from the decor to the stylists to the background music so I didn't have high hopes going in. Laura is a nice lady, and she does do the deva cut. It wasn't a bad haircut, per se, but it had absolutely no style or personality - just looked like a regular layered curly hair cut. It's fine, if you are relatively conservative and you don't mind having kinda poofy, round hair. It's also about half the price of Madu. However, I cannot wait to get back to Madu to get my style back.

She really cares about my hair and my look, always asking what my "hair goal" is and figures out a way to achieve it! I wish she could do for my body what she does for my hair! She's great!

Laura did an amazing job! She also gave me some good tips on products I can use as well as ways I can style my hair to work w/ my curl and not get frizz. The haircut is awesome and I'm getting a lot of compliments on it!

I have very long, moderately-tight, curly hair, and I've struggled in the past with finding a stylist who can cut curly hair without creating the bob or shelf effect. Laura at Vero knows just how to give my hair great shape and texture with beautiful, long layers! She is especially talented at using the Deva cutting method where she cuts the hair while dry and each curl individually. After discovering Laura and the Deva method, I now wonder why anyone would cut curly hair while wet given its tendency to spring up (and all too often and unfortunately OUT, as in sideways) when dried. She's also a great colorist. My hair is naturally dark auburn, but as an early greyer, I also have Laura cover the gray using an overall medium auburn. I've learned the hard way with other colorists that going red can go bad all too easily (think dark purple or orange), and with Laura my color always results in a lovely, naturally-looking auburn. With Laura, I've always been consistently thrilled with the cut and color, and I can't recommend her strongly enough!

I had been going to S.F for my haircuts and I just got tired of dealing with traffic, parking and not to mention the expense. Laura was recommended to me by a coworker, who also has curly hair. I just had my first appointment this week w/ Laura and I have to say, I love my hair! She is trained in the Deva technique of cutting curly hair, which involves cutting each curl individually. No one has really taken the time to educate me on my hair and curls in general, but Laura did just that. She even had a copy of The Curly Girl handbook for me to read when I was under the dryer! My curls are happy now, and I love the long, sexy layers. I've gotten quite a few compliments and I will definitley be back to see Laura! I highly recommend her...you can reach her @ 510-383-6355

Jessica is by far the BEST curly hair stylist there is around! She makes you feel comfortable and listened to, and she makes a great impression with her own gorgeous curls! She's a very pleasant lady with a great personality, and her cuts are reasonably priced at $45. She cuts hair dry, cutting each and every curl individually, so there are no surprises as to how it will look when it's washed and styled on your own. I have a mix of very tight ringlets and very loose waves, and she always shapes my hair so you can see more curl. I always walk out of her salon happy with my hair, Jessica is the best!

Jessica. Is. A. Curly. Hair. Guru. I haven't been this happy with my curls in years (literally). I'm actually excited about rockin' my curls once again -- a great leap from when I walked into Vero for Hair salon and told Jessica I hated my hair and wished to shave my head. Obviously, I was stressed about my frizzy, lackluster, shapeless curls. Jessica was amazing. She took the time to sit with me, face to face, and discuss my concerns and desires regarding my hair, and was a calming force against my anxious energy. It's rare to find a Deva Curl stylist here in The Bay Area, especially with great prices ($45 for wash/cut/style). Jessica knew exactly how to produce the results desired. She's super cute, pleasant and very competent. She gave me an incredible cut and showed me how to style it via Deva method. The result: Gorgeous, bouncy, defined curls day after day. Jessica also has 5-star reviews on Yelp.com, but is still a hidden gem. I would love to see her recognized for her skill.

After looking for a new hairstylist after getting two bad hair cuts on my curly head, I finally found Jessica at Vero Hair Salon. I was so nervous about my hair but she really took her time to listen to my concerns. She blended my curls all together wonderfully and now the shape of my hair is great and she didn't take much off either!! I love it! She cut my hair dry which was just what I was looking for and she cut each curl. Customer service was good and I love the atmosphere of the salon.
