Christina Curls at Haarmony Salon & Studio

We want to welcome to our staff our new curly hair specialist Chad Hanna. Chad has spent the last 6 months training under Christina and has 18 years experience prior to coming to Haarmony.

Haarmony Salon & Studio and Christina Carsillo Curls and have been in the making for the past 7 years. In 2006 Christina attended a Deva Concepts cut/color training and certification class that focused on specific cut, color and hair care maintenance techniques for curly girls.

This interested Christina enough to return to New York multiple times in future months to gather as much information as she could about cutting techniques and Deva’s unique product line. Since Christina had a solid working knowledge of cutting and coloring curly techniques, as well as 5 years of platform work for the Wella Corporation, Christina was asked to assist with platform duties for Deva at the Orlando hair show in 2007.

Deva has since refined their teaching techniques and class lengths for aspiring experts. This prompted Christina to, once again, travel back to New York for a 3 day hands on class to gain further knowledge of curly cutting and coloring. Christina was particularly interested in the specifics of cutting extremely difficult ultra curly ethnic hair of all curl patterns. After being able to pick the brains of both Denis DaSilva and Shari harbinger (owners of Devachan) about the fine details. Christina was excited to get back to her salon and really take over the market in Atlanta!

Christina had been a curly girl her entire life and now has become very interested in a company that addresses the specific needs and problems associated with all types of curls and curl maintenance. She took it upon herself to become the “Guru of Curls” in the South and to educate herself and her staff on every aspect of cut, color and maintenance of curly girls from all around the world.

She uses her current salon and photography studio with partner, Bryan Hiner, as the training ground for her curly girl research. In 2009, she began to actively promote her salon through the www.Naturallycurly.com and www.mydevacurl.com and to seek out all curly girls who struggled to find a great curly hairdresser. We wanted clients who were tired of standard salons who understood nothing about their particular curly hair. If there is any doubt of Christina Carsillo’s skills in regards to this much neglected market, they will be dismissed once you look over all our images, information, reviews, and videos.

For many examples of our work please check out the Christina Carsillo Curls' website, Haarmony Salon & Studio's website, facebook.com/haarmonysalonandstudio and our YouTube channel.

Look for the Grand Opening of our loft photography Studio in July 2013!!!

I just moved to Atlanta and quiet frankly I'd rather have my teeth pulled than find a new stylist. The minute I walked into the salon, Chad was interested, engaging and made me feel like he was going to take care of everything. And boy did he! I normally go home and wash my hair after a trip to the stylist...no one really understands curly hair, except for Chad,, but I didn't have to this time! I didn't have to the next day either. Chad not only gave me the devacurl cut of my life, he showed me all kinds of helpful tips and tricks... I thought I had heard it all! I'll not only be back...I'll look forward to it!

This salon is great. I drove all the way from New Orleans, LA to visit my parents in Atlanta for the weekend and she took me at 5:40...even though I was supposed to be there at 4pm. Stupid Atlanta traffic and GPS that sent metro the wrong place...but I digress... Christina is so adorable and so is the rest of her staff. They give you snacks and wine, which after a long drive, was very comforting. Christina examined my hair closely, asked me what I needed, and made great suggestions that were in trend. What a relief that she knows EXACTLY what she is talking about! She gave an adorable cut and beautiful highlights. Everywhere I go I get such nice compliments on my hair....I am so happy to have found this salon!! I will definitely be back very soon!

I lived in the Atlanta area for 17 years and have searched all over the area for a salon that could cut curly hair. After trying all the major salons in the area i.e. Curltopia, Van Michael Salon, Helmet and many more I still was not happy. Finally, I decided to try Haarmony Salon after reading positive reviews on this website. My hair was long and looked wavy and frizzy. I am middle aged so this was not the best look. I had given up and was wearing a pony tail every day. Also I was doing my own color (mistake). Christina and Chad looked over my hair and told me it was dry and I needed to have color correction. They were very honest about the status of my hair, so if you are sensitive this might not be the place for you. Christina took off about 6 inches and layered my hair. She also gave me great color. My hair now looks great! I have received many compliments. I will definitely be back to this salon. It was expensive but worth every cent! My only complaint is that I was there over four hours, but I did have alot done. Christina, Chad and crew all try and make your visit to the salon comfortable with drinks, magazines, TV, interesting conversation and instruction on how to make the most of your curls. Tell them Lisa sent you.

First let me say I LOVE MY HAIR! For years I have worn my hair straight and rocked it. My natural curly hair was always thought of as a back up plan or something to do every once in a while. After my visit with Christina, I am excited to say that I am rocking my curly hair and loving every minute of it. The entire vibe and energy of the salon was awesome! I loved my experience at the salon; the cut is fabulous and the staff were wonderful.

Curly Specialist? I was intrigued but extremely skeptical. A lifetime of bad haircuts had taken their toll. I finally called to make an appointment and was very anxious when arriving at the salon a few days later. Christina and her staff were understanding and accommodating. A dry cut, standing for a small portion of the cut and "no poo" were things I had never heard of before let alone experienced! Christina is Amazing! She listened, looked and then began her magical transformation! She gave me an awesome cut and taught me how to style my hair. After 43 years of fighting and hating my naturally curly hair, I thought I was the only one that "understood". Christina taught me so much in that first visit! I have never walked away from a salon feeling that happy and confident! The fact that I can duplicate the style on a daily basis is awesome!! 6 months (3 visits) later, I still love my hair and no longer manage my curl. I embrace my curl! I can't say enough about Christina the Curl Guru or her staff! Their professionalism, bubbly personalities and skill will definitely keep me coming back for more! Thanks Christina! You Rock!

First I have never had an experience like the one I had at Haarmony Salon and Studio. I was nervous about having my hair cut (dry cut). It truely make sense. Christina is wonderful and my new best friend. She examined my hair for several minutes and ask me several questions before my hair cut. She is truely a professional and takes pride in what she does. Everyone that works there were wonderful to me. I love my hair cut and the education I received. I learned alot and went in thinking that I was doing a great job with my hair...After 47 years I felt that I knew my hair and how to style it. But I learned what I was doing wrong and how to better manage my hair and curls. Chad-did a FABULOUS job with the color of high and low lights. I had the best time. First time to this salon. I noticed the other customers were enjoying their visit as well. I talked to several ladies that are repeat customers and they love coming in for their appointments. It was truely the most fun I had with complete strangers and I honest feel that I left with new friends. If you are in doubt, and never had a dry cut, I encourage you too try this salon. You will be so happy that you did. It truely make sense as curly hair should be dry cut. Plus they will educate you and you will love the end result.

I have been trying to deal with my wavy/curly hair for more than 15 years. I had straight hair until I got pregnant at 35, and after fighting with it for a couple of years, finally gave in and wore it curly most days. I had a stylist I liked when we moved in the Tampa area, but when we moved to Chattanooga over four years ago, I could not find anyone who really did a great job with my hair. I wore it long, for more than 10 years, but I was in the mood for a change, and, after looking on this site, decided to drive two hours south to the Atlanta area to give Christina and the Deva cut a try. What a great decision! I've never had a better cut or color, for that matter. Christina's great team took me in right away. I'd brought my mother, and they made sure she was comfortable as well. They asked me a number of questions about my hair, and then Christina got to work. I'd decided to take off several inches, and we needed to update the color. Christina spent a lot of time on the cut. She had me stand up and made more adjustments, then had me flip my hair and made even more adjustments. After a washing and some treatment, we moved on to color and then styling. At each step, Christna was very focused - my mother said she'd never seen anyone so focused on providing great service - and her team (Alex and Joy, I believe) were excellent. Christina spent a lot of time with each of her clients; even though she was busy, she made sure each person got her full attention. When we were done - several hours later - I was amazed at what she'd done. I looked and felt younger and more modern, and my hair looks much healthier. The color is amazing, and it's much more stylish and easy to care for. I washed it four days later and styled it using my usual products. It still looks great. It'll take me a while to find the right mix of products and learn how to style it as well as Haarmony did, but I am very happy. I highly recommend Christna and Haarmony Studios. I don't like spending that much money on my hair, but every time I catch my reflection, I am glad I did. I'll be back!

after moving to atlanta from new york city 6months ago i've FINALLY found someone to cut and color my curls! i had been going to curltopia and had gotten a terrible pintura color job...so bad that i had to go back FOUR times to get it even close to what i wanted. so needless to say i was on the hunt again for a stylist to trim and color and maintain my curls. i found Christina on the deva website, and read all of her great reviews...and now i know why. she's incredible. the minute i walked into her salon she knew exactly how she was going to fix my color and give me something that looked much more natural and flattering highlights that dont require a lot of maintenance. and the best part is she explain exactly what she was going to do and put me totally at ease. everyone at her salon is great...super friendly and awesome at answering all your questions and showing you how to style your hair. i also got my eyebrows done by chad there and he's great! my ONLY gripe is that i was there for a quite a while...but i got a trim, color and deep conditioning treatment, so thats bound to take a while and it wasn't like there were a ton of people ahead of me...lots of one on one attention which makes the process great and fun and enjoyable...just a bit long. i will be back to her salon soon! loved the experience and the results!

Well of course I had to wait at least 3 weeks before giving a good review. Christina is the best. I absolutely love my curls. I had an awesome tim while I was there. The atmosphere is relaxing. Historically I have spent no less than a hundred dollars to just get the basic style done at a salon. Most of the time I never liked the job that was done to my hair, nor was I ever able to actually manage my hair after my visit to the salon. I also have spent tons of money on products that wouldn't quite do the job. My biggest hair issue was frizziness, which caused me to have big hair. Christina and her team showed me how to successfully manage my hair and gave me style that I really love to look at. The best part about this is that before I washed my hair almost everyday, andnow 3 days from the day of doing my hair it still looks really good. I am done with walking aroung with a wet head everyday only to have big hair before the day is over. Thanks Christina and Chad. I had a blast. -Tabbitha

I live in Hawaii and don’t get to the mainland too often, but when I do, I try to make the most out of every trip. This trip while visiting friends and family in Atlanta, I decided to get a haircut. I had been hearing a lot of buzz about the deva cut and thought surely Atlanta would have quite a few deva certified stylists. With that in mind, I began my web search. Over and over again, the name Christina Carsillo continued to pop up. So after reading her bio, browsing her website, and reading about how great she was with curly hair, I figured that I’d give her a shot. I sent an email to schedule an appointment and later that night I received a response that Christina could see me two days later. On the day of my appointment, I walked in and was immediately welcomed at the door. Was even offered drinks and snacks. Christina was finishing up another head. Meanwhile, another stylist with a bubbly personality (can’t remember his name) gave me a questionnaire to fill out that gathered bits and pieces about my hair routine and personality. I imagine they do this to get an idea of who you are and what your daily hair routine is. By the time I finished the questionnaire, Christina was over introducing herself and rummaging through my curls. As she tried to determine my curl pattern, she gave me styling and maintenance advice according to what I had written on the questionnaire. Her knowledge of curly hair was astounding. Anywhoo, to make a long story short, I walked in to Christina’s salon with curl patterns that ranged from 2b to 3c all pretty much one un-even length that reached mid back. My ends were split and my hair lacked any shape. As I expressed what I envisioned for my curls, she began to work her magic on my dry curls. At first I was a little concerned when I saw the long pieces falling to the floor. And for a moment, I wanted to cry out, NO! Don’t cut so much, but instead I held my breath an watched the long pieces hit the floor. She finished the cut and I was still uneasy about what had just taken place (my hair was now in an afro state). After the cut, I was led to Joy, the Shampoo stylist. Joy did a fantastic job washing and deep conditioning my hair. Her technique almost put me to sleep. My curls were then dried with a diffuser. As each moment passed, I saw my newly layered curls come to life. I couldn’t believe my eyes, my curls were curling perfectly. Moment by moment I began to fall in love with my new cut! By the time they were finished diffusing my hair, I was grinning from ear to ear. Christina put so much life into my curls. I have never had anyone else bring this much life to my hair. I will definitely be coming back at least 3 times per year. Hawaii or not, there’s no distance far enough to keep me from her. She is truly amazing.

The minute you walk into the salon you are greeted with a very welcoming owner and her staff. I have never felt comfortable in a hair salon before and immediately felt at ease. Christina spent a good amount of time talking with me about the difficulty I have styling my hair and the many cuts and styles I have had in the past, all resulting in hair pulled back in ponytails and buns or even worse under a baseball hat. The knowledge Christina has is very apparent as well as her staff being very well informed with the issues curly hair girls experience and to have your stylist actually have curly hair was amazing. I have never had a stylist with curly have give me a cut. Not only do you receive probably the best cut ever, but you are given information through video and discussion with Christina with instructions on care of curly hair and styling tips! This was amazing! So many helpful hints and not once did I feel rushed. It is definately worth the drive for me and I intend on taking my family there as well. Not only does this salon provide quality services they truly CARE about their clients and needs. It was just an unbelievable experience and quite frankly I could have cried at the end of my service I was so pleased. I also had no idea that Deva Curl existed or there was SPECIFIC training for cutting curly hair until I was searching curly hair styles. I think it is wonderful that the hair industry has pinpointed a REAL GAP in the area of people with various types of curly hair. I think it is a segment that has long been ignored. I am so thankful to have found Christina and her salon. Her staff was wonderful as well and everyone so friendly. You felt "at home" the moment you entered the salon.

I am so excited about my hair!! Christina is AMAZING! She really knows what she is doing. I have been meaning to go to her salon for YEARS now, and I finally decided to make the appointment and just go. And, I am sooo happy I did. I have never had a dry cut before, but I totally understand why it is important for curly hair. It was so neat to watch Christina work. She has a belt that she wears with different scissors and she pulls out the different scissors and does her magic. I was a little nervous at first as I watched her cut long pieces of my hair off, but the final result is amazing and so much better than any other cut I have received. My husband really likes and and described it as "so much more modern and upated." The curls fall in the right places and I feel like my outfits even look better! She did pintura color with caramel and auburn colored highlights and they are beautiful and natural. I couldn't wait to get home and take pics and post them on facebook. I couldn't believe all the positive comments that my friends and family wrote about my cut and color. :-) I really enjoyed my experience in the salon--I was so comfortable, was offered a glass of wine and I felt like I could sit back and relax, because I knew I was in good hands. Christina is confident and friendly and I really enjoyed talking with her and the other staff while she worked. The staff is extremely nice--the girl who washed and later dried my hair was so friendly and personable ( I wish I could remember her name.) They spent so much time on my hair, I felt that the price was worth it ( I was there for about 4 hours). Thank you, Christina and Haarmony staff for the fun experience and beautiful hair cut.

Christina was wonderful! She gave me a much needed trim that completely reshaped my hair. She cut my hair dry and then "shampooed" with Diva Curl No Poo. Normally I'm resigned to letting my hairdresser wash my hair with shampoo so it was a relief to not worry about that. She went over the curly girl method and gave me a lesson in how to apply gel to my hair to help encourage my canopy to curl and not lie flat on my head. She was the first hairdresser I've ever been to who completely dried my hair (briefly with a hood, then with two (TWO!) very patient ladies with diffusers) and made sure my final style was one I liked. Finally, she went over several styles I could do with my hair instead of just throwing it up in a bun, like I normally end up doing. The day after the cut, my hair still looked great! It's an hour and a half drive for me to get to this salon, but it's one I won't ever complain about making!

Okay, I have lived with curly hair for 20 years, and for all those 20 years I have nothing but hated my curly hair. My parents divorced when I was really young and I lived the majority of my life with my dad who - low and behold - did not teach me how to deal with curly hair at all. I distinctly remember him ripping half my hair out every morning trying to comb through the giant lion's mane that was my hair when it was dry. Which of course only made my hair turn into an even more enormous ball of puff. Well I walked into Christina's salon this past Friday with that same dry and crazy hair that I've fought with all my life. I looked like I was smuggling poodles on my shoulders. From the moment she arrived she was nothing short of warm to both me and my friend. She gave me tips throughout my entire visit on how to better control my hair. When it came to the actual styling she cut my hair dry first then washed and put product in it, and she made sure to show me the process in depth and how I could replicate it at home. I can honestly say that when she was done my hair looked better then it ever had in my entire life. She even showed my friend how to do her hair. We were both looking so great when we left the salon we spent the rest of the day out showing everyone. I don't think I'll ever let anyone else do my hair if I can avoid it. If you are on the fence about going to Cristina's salon schedule your appointment now, because I promise you will not regret it!

Discovering 'Curly Girls' was an life-changing event for me and I embraced the CG/no Poo lifestyle from that day on. But while liberating myself from the hairdryer and round brush was easy, getting the best out of my thick, coarse, 2c clumps was like a long trek that never ended. I didn't seem to find the right products, fretted over the right method to maximize any chance of true curls and the right cut. I tried a couple of salons mentioned on this site, but even there I was disappointed - they insisted on shampooing my hair and wet-cutting it, and took way too much trouble styling it (when I know that I never have the time nor the talent to reproduce their results). So I took the plunge. I decided it was time to splurge on me. And I have to say I couldn't be happier. The salon is unassuming and quiet (appointment only) and you are made welcome from the get go. From the minute Christina touched my hair, I knew I was in the right place! She knew the problem spots (very heavy thick section on back right), identified a problem I didn't have a clue about (oily scalp), decided on a style based on my face shape (the only stylist ever to voice a thought about my longish oval face) and then gave me an age appropriate cut. Throughout the entire visit, Christina showed me how to use the products correctly for my type of hair and to achieve the desired effect; I watched in a mirror while she showed me how best to apply gel yet let the waves remain 'loose', and how to dry my hair upside down with paper towel properly (not how I had been doing it!) Long story short, I left the salon lighter in wallet, but feeling so good that I felt lighter in spirit! I look like a different person in the mirror, but I still look like ME, not what someone thinks I should look like. And most importantly, I feel more in control of my hair - I am sure that I will be able to take care of my waves from here on, thanks to Christina!

As one who has lived in Africa, Asia, Europe and now the US, I can honestly say that Christina has a true understanding of not only curly hair but what the ultimate look will be once you leave her salon to go about your daily activities. I can tell you for a fact that her styling techniques take all that into account and to test my new found stylist I did what no one would dare.... BTW I have mixed hair which can get a little poofy on me...lol Christina's magic is in the cut... I watched her transform limp long hair into bouncy lively curls with lots of volume and character... and all she used was a pair of scissors!... I now have a new respect for the scissors... So, to everyone out there, product can only do so much... your stylist holds the key to all your great hair days... Try Christina... you won't regret it.

Christina is professional and personable and she knows her stuff! She took the time to educate me on not just curly hair but how to get the best out of my hair. One of the main things I noticed about her is that she not only cares for your hair, she wants her clients to not just look beautiful, but feel beautiful and proud of their natural curls. She's really an awesome person and an incredible stylist. Oh! Did I mention my hair was a damaged mess?? She was able to salvage my girls by giving me a super cute cut and gave me tips on how to care for my curls at home. I LOVE MY HAIR CUT (my boyfriend even complimented my cut), I LOVE MY HAIR AGAIN! Christina Carsillo is the best curly hair stylist! I loved my curls before I went to Haarmony Salon to get my first Deva Cut but when she was done with the cut I love my hair even more. Like the rest of curly girls in this world I used to go to a hair dresser that would cut my hair wet, thank God I never had any traumatic experience with a hair cut before I knew there was a way to make the best o...f my hair with the appropiate hair cut. I found Christina on the Devachan website a few months ago but I was so afraid to go to her salon, then I started my reseach for a curly hair stylist last week and I found her website again. I took the time to read all the wonderful and reassuring reviews that other satisfied curly girls wrote about her that I decided to give her a shot!! SHE IS AMAZING!! She has a glowing personality, makes feel welcome and like other reviewer said is just like visiting a friend! I know going to her for a hair cut is a little on the expensive side but look at it this way, you are going to a professional that understands curly hair, knows how to cut it and teach you how to take better care of your hair. I know that you won't be disappointed. If you are in the Atlanta area make an appointment with her, she will show you have the most beautiful hair you have ever seen! I will go back in 8 weeks to color my hair for the first time in 5 years! Thank you Christina you will be my hair stylist for life!

I have been searching for a stylist who specializes in curly hair for almost 2 years. I have been natural for almost 5 years now and have tried several salons to help me with my hair. My last and final visit to a non-curly salon was Ulta for a cut. The stylist assured me she was able to cut naturally curly hair.....obviously she didn’t know what she was doing since she cut my wet... which is a NO NO for us curly girls. After this bad haircut I knew I had to find a stylist that knew what they were doing. I found that in Christina. My experience was FABULOUS!!! For once I was asked about my hair and my goals for my hair. This was not an experience like I had ever had before. Christina was very knowledgeable about how to get my curls more defined and how to style and cut my hair to work with MY curl pattern. Curlies... my search is over, I have found my stylist!!!!!

I have been going to Christina on and off since 1997. After several years without seeing her, my husband tracked her down and made an appointment for me himself ! That in and of itself is a testament to how good she really is! I have worn my hair curly since my teenage years and have experienced some bad haircuts! Many stylists claim to know how to work with curly hair, but Christina is the expert. She has extensive knowledge about curly hair and always takes the time to consult with you and assess your curls before she begins cutting. My curly haired teenage son recently began going to her and has since embraced his own curls! She keeps up on the latest trends and products while taking your own personal style and taste into consideration. My son and I have had so many compliments on our hair over the last year since my husband reacquainted us. I drive about an hour to see her, but it is more than worth the trip. I can also go longer between cuts because she does such an amazing job of shaping each individual section of my hair. If you are frustrated with your curls or feel like there is nothing else you can do with your hair, consult with Christina. I promise you will see a difference in your hair and you will learn something new about styling and haircare. Christina will make you feel proud to have curls!!!

I just got my first curly cut from Christina. She was very welcoming and warm. I had mixed curls, soft and wavy in the front and tight curls in the back. She set to work and before I knew it the waves in the front were curly and the back was thinned out and shaped nicely (no more triangle head!). As she styled my hair she took me through each step and made sure I understood what I needed to do to achieve the look at home. This is one of the lowest maitenance hair cuts I have ever had. The next day I was able to recreate the style in a few minutes. In the past it seemed that even if I put on a nice suit, I still looked sloppy because of my unruly hair. Now I can look like a professional, and I feel more confident. Amazing what a good haircut will do. The cut did take quite a while (2 hours), but I assume it will not take as long next time. Her prices are high, but you get what you pay for. I will definitely be going back. A previous reviewer said that she had twice as many curls when she left than when she walked in, which is what persuaded me to try Christina. I was not disappointed.

Frizz be gone! Christina did a great job. Immediately after the dry haircut my hair already looked and felt better. She got the weight off of my hair without 'thinning' it and a lot of the frizz was gone and my waves/curls were better formed just from the quality of the cut. My hair is also hard to color, and the color looks great. After washing and product - the frizz was gone. She has beautiful curls herself and it really makes a difference to have someone who is not only trained but 'understands' and embraces your hair. I have often left the salon flatironed and not knowing what my hair would look like or looking like a lampshade because the stylist didn't know what to do with it. I recently had my first Deva dry haircut by Christina. She is great! I was so pleased with her, her talent, her knowledge - everything about my Haarmony Studios experience. She had me watch a brief video on curly hair, then she cut it. The way she cuts it is amazing -- every individual curl is cut. When she styled it, she explained everything that she was doing and why. With that, I learned the how, the why, the what and the what not to do with regard to styling. I learned how important gel isto curly hair. When I left there, it looked like I had at least twice as many curls as when I walked in! I look forward to my next appointment, that's for sure. While there, I met her boyfriend Bryan who has a photography studio at the same location. I looked through albums of photos (models, actors, etc., etc.) that he has taken. His work is beautiful and very professional. So, in case you need pictures taken, I would recommend Bryan. In addition, Christina will do your makeup and hair for pictures that you may need. For years, I've been frustrated by: (1) bad haircuts that look great when I leave the salon--because the stylist has straightened my hair; or (2) bad haircuts that look awful when I leave the salon--because the sytlist has tried to diffuse my hair and left me with a ball of frizz. I always had the "wait and see" view on a haircut--namely, "I'll wait until I wash and style it myself before passing judgement." I have tried to find someone who would cut my curly hair dry and style it in a way that gave me hope for the future. Now, my search is over! Christina was warm and inviting and did a great job fixing my last haircut, which was a bit of a disaster. I wanted a cut that celebrated my curls, but still looked stylish and professional (and a bit edgy), and Christina was able to give me just what I wanted. She cut my hair dry and styled it curly.
