- I have been to Leo twice now. I was waiting to write a review based on more than one visit. My first visit was for a hair cut. I went with the intention of "embracing my curls" and to get a cut that complemented my curly hair. I had been wearing it straight mostly for the previous 2 years. I had a short cut about 1 & 1/2 year prior to and I was growing it back out. I was clear about wanting to continue to grow my hair length but also having a cut that worked for the definition of my curls. She dry cuts to the contour of your curls, then washes and styles. I was a little disappointed when I left the salon. I felt like my hair was shorter than I wanted. However, my curls were looking very happy and more defined that they had look in a long time. She also suggested a sulfate free shampoo, which I decided to purchase. My second visit was for a color. My previous stylist had really messed up a color and I was going to Leo to try and get what I actually wanted. I had her darken my base to a chocolate brown and highlight the front to a bronze/honey blonde. I left very satisfied this time. My color looked great with my curls and was also complementary to my skin tone. Yesterday was the first time I have straightened my hair since this spring when I first went to Leo. Let me say that: 1. My color is AWESOME and 2. My cut works even with my hair straight and has grown beautifully since the initial cut this spring. I will be going to Leo again however, I will try and be more obvious about what I want in terms of length when I am getting any cut done.

- Leo Freeman is an angel sent from God :) She is an amazing person in and out and a true beautician. I drove to her hair studio located in Sherman Oaks from Orange County and plan on doing it frequently.
Okay, let's get directly to my review. Call ahead for directions because it may be a bit tricky to find this hidden gem! Luckily I found a place right on the street where there are meters (which accept MasterCard, Visa and American Express as well as quarters! They also have a parking lot in the back.)
As I walked upstairs and opened the door I felt at ease immediately. It is very zen inspired and earthly with brown, tope and green tones. I know most people would want to know my hair "type". I am multi cultured (mixed with black and European). My hair is mixed between a 3a-3c and it is down to the middle of my back.
First things first - the famous Deva hair cut (I was charged $80). It took her about an hour in a half to cut my hair. Patience is virtue! I showed her a few pictures to let her know what I was going for and she nailed it! She did such a stunning job on my thick curls. I have never had such an amazing hair cut in ALL my years. She then washed my hair using Wen's Fig shampoo/conditioner (which I later purchased as well. She is NOT pushy about selling her products.) She has the DevaCurl Products as well and the Wen Products. She then styled and defused my hair leaving me in tears! (Good ones of course!) I just HAD to give her a hug.
I am without a doubt a new loyal customer. If you are debating the drive, believe me when I say it is BEYOND worth it especially if you have curls that need to be healthy and tended to. Leo is so knowledgable with curly hair and just hair in general as far as healthiness, etc. She is also quite affordable for someone who was personally trained from the owner of DevaChon Salon in NY. Leo is inspirational about hair and is a true artist as far as I am concerned.
Thank you Leo.

- I absolutely love Leo's method of cutting curly, kinky hair. She cuts it dry without a comb/brush; she uses her fingers to feel through your hair. She's reasonably priced, $80 for a cut. She gives great advice on how to take care of your hair and what products to use. I've recommended her to friends and they love her too!

- Leo is one of a kind! I've been trusting her with my curls for 3 years now and each visit is a joy. She also does incredible color. I'm an actress and had to dye my hair from my natural blonde to red for a film recently. Leo took such good care of my curls throughout the whole red-hair phase, slowly removing the red and highlighting me back to blonde when the film finished. And my hair is still super soft and shiny! Her vast knowledge on products and ingredients is a great help. It feels wonderful to be able to trust someone so completely with my haircuts and color. In addition to being a total hair pro and curl-expert, Leo is kind, warm and funny; in short, a lovely stylist who has become my friend. I'm with her for good!

Leo is the best! She uses Deva Curl products, and will do a half hour consultation with no obligation to go thru with an appointment. After talking to her on the phone, though, I already had enough confidence in her to just make the appointment for a cut. The day of my visit, she spent an hour and a half with me and did a fantastic job! Both she and the salon receptionist, Amber, were very patient and helpful on the phone and in person.
Leo was a good listener, taking in my photos, and what I wanted and just running with it. She first cut my hair dry, then 'washed' it with a Deva Curl conditioning cleanser, then cut it more while wet. It was such a relief to have a stylist that knows already knows how to cut curly hair without me having to explain!! She is a curly girl herself and really has a great head of hair!
She shaped my hair really well and gave me such a stylish do that I never thought I could have with curly hair. (I have a ton of 3a type curls). Since seeing her, I've gotten so many compliments, even from guys in my office that wouldn't normally notice that sort of thing! I will definately been seeing her again soon!
