    Review:
I went yesterday to get a "curly" haircut, which was way, way long due... Once in her chair, Kristen told me that nobody ever disliked her cuts.I was like okay, that's always what they show, but how do you know that they don't cry when they get back to their car?? and she told me, "because they keep coming back." I was a little bit skeptical because of my past experience with salons, which consisted of just being another member of the salon's "to do list" of the day. To my surprise, I was treated so well, and they spent so much time with me actually teaching me how to take care of my hair. Treating your hair the right way is what can bring you to love your hair; feel good about your hair. This is why I'm so happy I went to Kristen's chair. This is going to sound totally cliche, and two days ago I probably rolled my eyes at the other reviews that said it, but I truly am feeling better about myself. lol. (And it doesn't hurt that literally around 50 people complimented my hair today...) Feeling good about yourself is what yields success, so I am glad that I have gained in that aspect. I would totally recommend this salon (Patrick who finished me off, also completely awesome), thank you thank you! <<33 Wow this sounds really cheesy, not usually how I speak, but I must say it happens to be true. lol

I have to jump on the bandwagon here with my praise for Patrick and his salon. Patrick is amazing and gave me the best Deva cut I've ever had (and I've been to at least 3 other Deva-trained stylists). He gave me his full attention and made me feel like I was his only client. He's very kind and open to questions, and he's a complete devotee to the Deva concept. My cut was incredible! His salon (which is super charming and comfortable) is more than an hour drive for me, but absolutely worth every minute. I highly recommend him for all Maryland curly girls!

I went to Patrick Alan Salon a two weeks ago to present them with the impossible hair that I have. My friend refered me to the stylist Kristen, who i imidiately fell inlove with. She is warm, fun, energetic, and made me feel at home and calm as she worked her magic on my hair. After an hour i walked out of the salon feeling like a new person. My hair was bouncy, neat and full of life. the best part about it is that she taught me exactly how to achieve the look and now two weeks later, it look like shes does my hair everyday. The salon itself is secluded, calming, and very personal. The experience in general was uncomparable. This salon is perfect for anyone who is ready to finally get the hair they have been waiting for, and meet amazing people who will help you get there

WoW!! i just got a cut at this salon and was hoping to get in with Patrick, based on the reviews. he was booked for months but they had another stylist named Kristen so i went in her chair. Kristen was very pleasant and She as well as Patrick was trained the DEVA way. she really knows her stuff! the cut was so modern and funky. i never in a million years thought my curls would ever look stylish. but Kristen at last saved me from certain fashion hell. the salon is way friendly and upscale at the same time. ATTENTION curly girls! MUST GO!!!!!!!!!

I have to post to echo the raves about Patrick - he is absolutely wonderful and is truly the best stylist I have been to since making the "natural" switch from a relaxer a few years ago. He has worked his magic on my hair twice now, and he has a real understanding of curly hair, the needs of curly girls in general, and how to meet the needs of the individual client. I Prior to Patrick, I had been going to another highly-regarded stylist on this site for years (even before growing out the relaxer). She helped me through my transition and, while I love her to pieces, there was one limitation that drove me nuts - her cuts looked beautiful when they were short, but grew out into the dreaded triangle. EVERY time. For two years. I've always worn my hair longer, and wanted to keep that up with the curls – but she only seemed to be able to make my curls work when they were short. I found Patrick on this site and made an appointment. When I sat down on my first trip, I explained my frustrations and Patrick understood immediately. He listened carefully, asked some questions, spent some time studying my curl pattern, and immediately went to work on the (dry!) "DevaCurl" cut. At first, I was surprised at how detailed his work was - literally each curl - but once I saw the finished product, I was thrilled. He gave me some excellent tips and a real understanding of the “realities” of curly hair. I had a cut I loved and was armed with knowledge as to how to keep it up. I was on cloud 9. The real test, though (and the reason I waited to write a review) was the "growing out" period. Well - six months passed - and I LOVED it. Beautiful, long layers that fell where they were supposed to go without much work on my part. Healthier, more hydrated curls that no longer frizzed within 5 seconds of drying. AND NO TRIANGLE. Bliss. I just went back for my second cut and was as happy as I was after the first. In addition to Patrick’s skill, friendliness, and willingness to answer questions, the salon is comfortable and very relaxing. What are you still waiting for? Go, go!

I am mixed girl Korean and Black and have very curly hair. I came to Patrick after reading about him on this site. I live in Pasadena Maryland, so it was not a far drive. Patrick is great!! He cut my hair and also changed my really red hair to a brown with blonde highlights. I like it so much better. He is one of the best stylist I have ever had. I have lived all over the place. Hawaii, Alaska, Vermont, overseas, and so on. He also does my friends hair too. She had blonde permed hair and now she is a brunette. She really looks beautiful. He is also trained in the Deva curl cut.

Patrick does live up to his reputation. When I made the appointment, he advised me to co-wash only until my visit, and discussed his technique. So I was feeling pretty comfortable about trying him out: at least he knew the talk. Well, I learned that he is more than talk. He has trained with Massey, and has thoroughly adopted the CurlyGirl philosophy and technique. When I arrived, he spritzed my hair with lavender water and scrunched it to see the curl pattern. Then he picked out each individual curl and cut it. He never once grabbed more than about a quarter inch of hair... I swear it looked almost like he used cuticle scissors to cut. He then had his assistant co-wash and condition, and she scrunched it properly too. After a light scrunching with paper towels, he examined the cut again. He put a several DevaCurl styling products in (a bit too much for my taste) and diffused it dry. I loved the curl definition and the shape of the cut, but the true test was... could I do it myself? The answer is a resounding yes!!! I've since washed and styled it... and it's just as well-defined and well-shaped. A true measure of success: I CAN do this at home.

Since I moved to Annapolis over a year ago, I have been searching for a stylist who could do a great job cutting my curly hair. My search is finally over! Patrick truly understands curly hair. I’m so impressed with his skills, techniques, and approach. He even cut my hair dry – which makes so much sense because he could see how to cut according to what my curls were doing. I had the last appointment of the evening but I never felt rushed. He was also really cool to hang out with. Most importantly, I felt like a diva walking out of his salon!

Patrick is fabulous! I had a minor coloring crisis (ok, it was orange) and I called his salon based on reading rave reviews here. He answered on a Monday (they were closed) and gave me wonderful advice for what I could do at home to help keep the hair healthy (olive oil treatment) until I could get in to see him. Once there, he really looked at the curls, the color, and made some wonderful decisions on how to get the color back to normal while adding a bit of interest with lovely highlights. He also used a great undercut technique to give me more body on top with less poof at the ends. This man knows curls and he's wonderful to work with. Who else gives a great cut, color, and a hug at the end? This is right outside of Annapolis and totally worth the drive from wherever you might be coming from.

I recently went to Patrick for the second time and just had to write about how great he is with curls. Every time I leave his salon I feel like a million bucks, and he treats his clients very well. Even though he was already booked he squeezed me in, and his salon, which still looks brand new, is a relaxing and stress-free place to wait in quiet little Arnold. He's very good about knowing how to layer not taking too much off my shoulder length curls, and his cuts still look when you're busy and don't have time to style-- a near impossible feat with my dry, frizz-loving mop. Plus he's super nice and NOT a Diva (at least, not while he's working :). Arnold is just a short hop from Annapolis, and a drive for me from Greenbelt, but definately worth it. GO Patick!
