I highly recommend Alexa and Modern Concepts Salon. I will only go to stylists experienced in the Ouidad, Deva or similar curly hair cutting techniques (after a lifetime of poor experiences with various stylists) and I'm very happy after my first visit to Alexa today. My hair was in poor shape after not having it cut or highlighted in quite awhile, and Alexa did a fantastic job with not just the Deva cut but the color is one of the best I've had in over 10 years of getting highlights. She gave me a deep conditioning glaze at no cost because it would help make the color even better, which I thought was very generous. The friendly, inviting atmosphere of the salon was also great and everyone was very attentive and welcoming, which made it more of a spa atmosphere and an enjoyable afternoon of pampering. Not one mention of purchasing products from the salon or in any way pushing products, which was a refreshing change from other salons in the area. If you're a curly-head in Ashburn or Loudoun County, definitely visit Alexa!

Yesterday, I went and had my first "deva" cut with Alexa and Modern Concepts salon in Ashburn, VA (Northern Virginia - about 30-45 mins outside DC). She was great and really took the time to tell me what she was doing and why. She also explained that while she was trained in the deva method, she also has developed and refined it for her own use on various curl types. She also showed me how to do pin curls and did a deep treatment, showing me what she did/how much product/etc that she used for every step. I'm very happy with my experience overall and would definitely recommend her to anyone in the area.
