- Derek just moved to Pure Hair Design from Liquid Hair Studios, where he received several positive reviews on this site (including mine). Now, I've never had a Deva cut, and that's not what Derek does (he cuts the hair wet, and he does comb it out straight before cutting). But he has a really good eye for waves & curls, and he is skillful with layering. He's also a stylist who listens and gives his clients careful, respectful attention. At $50 (not including tip), I'm guessing he might be a less expensive option to the Deva cut. I have very wacky wavy/curly hair with a super irregular pattern, and I've been really happy with his work.

- He does the Deva cut, and despite the fact that he has straight hair he really knows how to handle curly hair. His demi-permanent color lasts longer than any other color I've ever had done. Even when it faded it still looked good. He stands by his work and you get a sense that he is really vested in what he does.

- Kristin is very thoughtful and thorough. She is Deva trained and always gives me a great cut. I recently upgraded to color too - she can do the pintura method - I love it!

- I got my first Deva cut with Shan a few days ago, and I can honestly say it's the best haircut I've ever had. You can tell he really has a passion for curls. Shan was super friendly and knowledgeable and really paid attention to my hair. He walks you through the Deva process from start to finish, and while I may not be ready to shell out for the products just yet, the styling tips he gives are great and would help with any product. The best part was that he actually listened when I said I was trying to grow my hair out, and didn't chop off three inches like other stylists would when faced with my hair. The prices are a little steep, but worth it, in my opinion. You definitely get what you pay for, and that is a visit to the hairdresser without tears!

- I'd been going to Fringe for a while but wanted to try a new place and found that Pure Hair does the Deva cut. I've now been there twice and I'm thrilled. Maria is a curly herself, which makes it much easier for her to advise her clients. She is fun loving and laid back, and very nice to spend time with. The only downside to this salon is that it is very small, so there is not much room to wait. This is not a good place to bring your kids if you are getting your hair cut because there is no room for them.

- I saw Maria today at Pure, and she made me cry... with happiness! This is the first haircut in, oh, 20 years that actually came out looking nice and will continue looking nice when I do it myself. I got the Deva cut. It was technically the second one I had paid for, but the first real one I got. The first place I went to claimed to have a Deva stylist, but he didn't do it correctly. He cut it wet, and then toseled my hair with his fingers while he dried it, undoing what the DevaCurl product is designed to do. Maria laughed with me as I told her the disastrous story, and proceeded to work miracles with my mess of a head of hair. I had her take off almost 8 inches in some places, thus freeing me from my long held fear of shorter hair. So thank you, Maria, for helping me see just how awesome my hair can be. I got shrieks of delight and hordes of compliments from my coworkers (even the guys! gasp!) when I returned to work! I feel like I can conquer the world!
