  I just moved to the bay area from NYC 6 months ago. I loved my hairdresser back home so i was worried about finding one here but thankfully a friend recomended Patricia Lewis at La Peluqueria. So i thought why not and made an appointment with her and for lack fo other words I couldnt be happier. Since she has curly hair herself it was easy for her to teach me how to style and manage my hair. I am very happy with the cut she gave me along with the way she styled it and got my curls to look better than they ever have. Not only that, she had multiple products in her salon for sale that she used on me to get my hair to look the way it did. I highly recomend her to women with curly or any type of hair :)

  I moved up to the Bay Area about 2 1/2 years ago and was very nervous about finding a new stylist. I had been going to the same stylist in San Diego for 15 years. I tried two different stylists in Berkeley and both were very nice but I just didn't love the results. After doing lots of internet research for a good stylist, I came across reviews for La Peluqueria and Patricia. I was really interested in the reviews because I have naturally wavy hair. It's not super curly but not super straight- kind of in between. I almost always straighten my hair but I thought "Well Patricia is called the curly hair expert so I'll give it a try and maybe she can help me wear my hair naturally wavy." Patricia did not disappoint me! After chatting with her for a few minutes, she made great suggestions on a cut that would allow me to wear my hair naturally wavy and it would still be a cut that would look great when I straightened my hair. She did a great shampoo, cut and then dried my hair and by the end my natural waves were beautifully defined. I absolutely love my new cut! Since my cut last week, I have worn my hair wavy, straight with a flat iron and have dried with a round brush for volume and light waves. I'm loving the versatility. Her salon is super cute and cozy and I did not have a problem finding parking but my appointment was early in the morning. I'm so happy to say that I have found my new stylist in the Bay Area. I will definitely be going back to see Patricia!

  Absolutely fabulous! I just moved to CA from the east coast and I was very nervous about finding the right hair stylist. I actually saw a woman on the street with beautiful curly hair and I asked her where she went for cuts. She eagerly told me at Patricia and I immediately made an appt (which was very easy and for a few days after my phone call....Patricia even called the person scheduled before me to ask if she could move her time a bit earlier so I could get the time I needed). Anyway, the cut was amazing! She totally understood my hair! The salon is calm and quiet. You feel like (and you truly are) getting 100% attention!!!! Plus, the price was extremely reasonable!!!! I literally was asked to pay 1/3 of the cost I was paying on the east coast!!!! I highly recommend!!!!

  After going to Patricia for a few years, I would not trust my hair to anybody else. My hair can never decide if it wants to be straight, curly, or wavy, and Patricia helped me learn to style it to make it just the way I want, and always gives me a haircut that I love. She is a stylist who listens to you, and gives you exactly what you want, in a comfortable and stylish environment. Not only is she my hair stylist, but she has also become one of my good friends. I give her a 10 out of 10. Go to La Peluqueria if you want amazing hair!

  Going with Patricia is a great experience! She knows what she's doing and she takes good care of your hair and you can see the quality and dedication she puts in her work. She did a wonderful work fixing my highlights, she made 3 full steps to cover gray hair and put the new lights. In all she had to wash my hair three times, and she did it. She noticed I needed to trim my eyebrows and did a splendid job. She is also very kind, her place is well located and very cozy. I just moved to Berkeley 6 months ago and I'm really happy to have Patricia and La Peluqueria to take care of my hair! I highly recommend her.

  I read the reviews and decided to give Patricia a try. I also decided to put all my "Deva" curly girl knowledge aside and see what happened. I was very pleased. I didn't even ask about wet or dry cuts!! She cut my hair wet. I told her I just wanted a trim and to take out the bulk and she said she understood as she has the same hair as I do. Before I had mine cut another woman was having hers done and I saw the before and after (very short curly hair) and she looked great. She took a great deal of time cutting my hair, picking up sections and trimming over and over again. She used mixed chicks leave in and dried my hair with my head facing down the way I do at home. Even the two Deva salons I went to did not do this. She is very open to learning about new products and techniques, but I was satisfied with my wet cut. She also did my roots and they look great. When I came home my husband said he thought this was the best cut I've had. No trouble so far and its been a few weeks. I'm going for highlights next week. Her prices are very reasonable and Patricia has a great personality and is very fun and easy to talk with. Definitely will be my stylist. P.S. (Had a Deva trained stylist in SF and one is Moraga. The one in Moraga actually "fired" me because I trimmed my own hair and used some color until I could get to her) SF stylist colored my hair wrong two times in a row!!)

  I went there after reading reviews on this website and I must say that I was thoroughly disappointed. My hair looks worse than it has ever been- it has absolutely no style and looks like a Christmas tree. I'm surprised that a stylist with curly hair herself could give me such a bad haircut. The positive thing I have to say is that she knew how to set my hair after the cut. Alas! I only wish the cut was as good. Now starts the painful task of waiting for my hair to grow out.

  Honestly!! I wouldn't trust my hair to anyone else. Patricia knows color, curls and cutting with style and grace. She will make you beautiful!! More beautiful than you all ready are and you can count on it!! I used to hyperventilate before finding a stylist or going into a salon. I would bring my own combs and not trust anyone to comb through my nappy hair, until Patricia. Now going to the salon is fun for me and something I look forward to. Make an appointment today!!   Patricia Lewis at La Peluqueria in Berkeley, an artist of hair, works miracles for all types of curly hair! Patricia's shop is tucked behind Cafe de la Paz on Shattuck and across from Andronico's. My curls are now radiantly flowing, have superb and natural color, and are extremely well cut. As another client noted, everyone who leaves there seems very happy. She is funny, bright, and spirited and you can enjoy the time with her. I can't recommend her enough!
