  I have searched and searached for the right stylist for my 3a Hair. I have finally found a home with R Rated Hair Studio. Being that I am also a Stylist, (though inactive), it takes alot to get me to stick with someone. Especially with my fine 3a Hair. Ritchie did a wonderfull job - beginning with the consulation - he goes over everything - but you don't feel judged. He addressed all my concerns, explained what he was doing, taught me how to reproduce it, and answered my product questions. All of this while talking and laughing about everything under the sun. He even complimented my color. (2 tiny biege strands on level 4/5 Dark Ask Brown Hair). All of this, while NOT pushing products. Not oversellnig or pressuring me to do other services or color. The only downside is that they are hard to speak with on the phone. I'm sold, Ritchie and Mark - and R Rated are great, I will be returning!

  I didn't know I had natrually curly hair, I just thought it had kind of a wave to it. One of my friends has perfect corkscrew curls and I asked her where she got her hair done. It wasn't with Richie, but she said she heard he's the best. So I made an appointment. Just like the other reveiwers said, Richie is warm and welcoming, like an old friend. He takes the time to teach you what you need to do at home to replicate the perfection he created. I DO have curls, type 3a, as I was shocked to find! Richie recommended the Deva line. I bought the gel and pomade but my shampoo was drying and therefore frizzing my hair. I made an appointment for my 4-year-old daughter who has curls but never let me touch her hair (knots). Richie did an absolutely fabulous job on her and now we style our hair together, using all Deva products. We both don't comb our hair and because of the way Richie cuts it, we don't have knots or tangles. To the girl who couldn't get through to Mark to make an appointment, KEEP TRYING! Richie's worth it and you'll be happy to be a curly girl!

  I had been straightening my hair for years and finally got tired of all the time it took not to mention the damage it was doing to my hair. I decided to go back to my natural curl but had no idea how to get my hair to look soft and frizz free. My sister told me about this website and I happened to come across the reviews for Richie and decided to give him a try. Best thing I ever did! Right when he looked at my hair he knew what kind of curl it had and began to give me tips right away. He explains everything to you so that you can recreate the look yourself at home. I felt my hair was hopeless but left my appointment with Richie feeling excited and actually loving how my hair looked. He is very friendly and makes you feel very comfortable. Not only will you get the best haircut but you will have a fun time.

  Hi! I had my same stylist off and on for 20+ yrs and I'm in my 30s. I move out of town and still made it to see him becasue no one ever knew what or how to do my hair. it became increasingly difficult to stay with him for a variety of reasons including distance, habitual tardiness and entire days lost to getting my hair done so I came here hoping to find new love. I found Ritchie at RRated in Long Beach and he is amazing. Not only do i love my new curls and peek-a-boo highlights but his chair side manner was second to none and he is so much FUN. I am so happy he is only a 15 minute drive and i didn't have to spend or lose an entire day doing my hair. With a hubby and 4 kids, my time is precious and i was in and out!!

  I was refered. I called. I booked. I went. And I LOVE my hair!!! Richie Roman knows curly hair!!! My hair has always been my biggest problem on my body. I can never get it just right. I've been to many salons all over this state who also could never get it right. Little did I know, this guy, who I would like call Mr. Curl has been right around the corner from my house this whole time. Not only did Richie Roman treat me like we were old friends, he cut my hair and filled my head with so much curl knowledge. Why oh why are there not more hairdressers out there that care about curls like he does?! As much as I thought I was going to keep him as my little secret, instead he suggested I go on here and write a review. I see there are plenty, so my secret is out. So let it be known that this is a REAL CURL EXPERT!!! I can't thank the girl with the gorgeous curls I bumped into at the grocery store enough for giving me his card.

  Richie Roman was great. After years of leaving salons crying (really), I had finally found a stylist who knows how to cut curly hair. HOWEVER, I have not been able to get a hold of him since he moved to R Rated Hair from the Loft on Broadway. I have called about 10 times, left 3 messages, and all I get is that recording of Mark saying he "is on the other line with someone". I'm tired of it.

  Many stylist SAY they can cut curly hair, but that doesn’ t mean they can do it well. I have unfortunately had to learn this the hard way. Just when I had given up, I stumbled upon a review of Richie on this particular website and they were not kidding, this guy is a curly hair guru. He has worked wonders with my curls. He is on the cutting edge (pun intended) of curly hair products, cutting and styling techniques. He always has a new styling trick to show me when I go in. Not to mention, he is an absolute pleasure to be around. You will spend most of your visit laughing. I looked forward to every visit. I followed him to R Rated from his previous salon and would follow him to another country if I had to. He is truly a GOD when it comes to curly hair. I am SO happy that I found him!

  As many of you know, it is difficult to find a hairstylist who knows how to deal with curly hair. I won't go through my MANY horror stories, as I'm sure you have been there too. I'm Hawaiian, Portuguese, & Spanish, so you know how unmanageable my hair can be. Richie does a dry haircut, and from that first experience I haven't been nervous about getting a haircut/ trim. He's taught me so much about my hair, and I'm so very grateful for him. On a side note, he's also great with color. He's honest, and tells you what works for your hair, and your face. I appreciate people when they are looking for your best interest instead of just doing what you want, knowing it's not going to work, just to make money. I highly recommend Richie, and am confident you'll amaze people with your gorgeous locks!

  A friend of mine recommended Richie Roman since we both have curly hair. I saw Richie yesterday and I love my hair! A few years ago I started to let my very curly hair grow as I was tired of keeping it short, but I hadn't found anyone who could cut it right or tell me how to style it...until I went to Richie. He knew exactly how to cut it and told me how to style it without having to use expensive products or take a lot of time in the morning. On top of that he was very outgoing and made me feel comfortable immediately. I would highly recommend Richie!
