I am very happy with my hair after Beth cut my curly(and frizzy)hair. I got nice comments from people. They asked me where I got my haircut. Of course, I recommended Beth to them. One of them came back to me and thanked me for recommending Beth. Beth really took time and explained to me how to take care of my hair.

Can't say enough good things about Beth! She's bobbed my hair, carved a new look for long locks, and is an AMAZING colorist. How do I know? I get stopped constantly--on the metro, at work, and on the sidewalks of Georgetown---to get asked who cuts my hair. Seriously. That never happened in my life until she took over my hair. I'll never go to another stylist in DC again.

I recently moved to the DC area from Florida and was excited to try a salon specializing in curly hair. I was disappointed. My hair was so frizzy when I left I was embarrassed to ride the bus home. I put my hair in a bun as soon as I left. I met with Lauren before scheduling my appointment to explain what I wanted. I have 3c hair that is normally cut dry. However, once a year, I like the split ends trimmed with a wet cut, followed by shaping with a dry cut. I told her I would pay extra if necessary since it takes more time to cut both wet and dry. She seemed to understand curly hair and said she could cut my hair as described. The day of the appointment I found out that Lauren schedules one-hour appointments and then you are out the door. There is no way to consult, wash, cut, style, dry and shape long 3c hair in that time. I thought, she'll probably put me under a drier after my appointment and then shape my hair with a dry cut in between appointments. That didn't happen. She shaped my hair during the wet cut, unbeknown to me! Now I am back to triangle hair with a distinct shelf in the back, two things Lauren agreed we were trying to avoid. My hair also appears to be different lengths in the back since the curls dry differently. I do not trust Lauren to fix my hair. I will wait until my hair grows out and find someone else. If you have any suggestions, please let me know!

There's only one way to describe my hair after fiddleheads: ridiculous frizz bob. I did everything O was supposed to do: I did my hair this morning, left it down, and showed up on time. She sat me in the chair and, rather than starting a cut, she began raking her fingers through my hair, making my hair really big and separating the curls. There were no curls left to guide her cut, which is very much necessary for a true curly girl cut rather, a mass of frizz that was easily five times the volume of my normal hair.

Beth really knows what she is talking about! I have been to many stylists in the DC area who really think they are the authority figure to every type of hair especially curly hair. After numerous BAD haircuts I tried Beth and I am transformed. What she says and believes about curly hair completely makes sense. My hair has never looked better and everyone stops me on the street with millions of compliments! I can't argue with that!

Up until yesterday I had long curly hair that took many, many, many years to grow. I loved that it was long but I admit that it had no style. I always wore it in a ponytail, barettes,etc which I didn't mind (because I have a very active job running around with kids all day) but I was in search of finding a cut where it could still be long but with some style. I made an appt with Beth after reading rave reviews about her. This was the biggest mistake; I am SO unhappy with the results!!!! I told Beth that I was very nervous about getting it cut!! I agreed to have some length cut and layering as long as it stayed as long as possible and that I could definitely still wear it up. Other than that I told her that I trusted her judgment. My hair was cut so short that I can no longer where it in a ponytail and I am beyond upset!!!! I had plans after the appt but I was so upset and embarrassed that I came right home and canceled all my weekend plans. I have been crying since yesterday and I can't stand to look at myself in the mirror :( The worst part is that my hair doesn't grow fast but I'm hoping and praying that this time it might. Wish me luck; I need it!

I love this salon. It's warm, friendly, and fun. Lauren always gives me an excellent cut, either wet or dry. She also knew what the best length would be to get the most out of my curls. And she's given me a lot of great styling tips. These folks know curls.

My hair is very curly and I wanted to grow it out but no one could cut it right. Beth did an amazing job bringing out my curls. It's been about a 6 month project but we got there and I am so glad she never just cut it all off. I even proposed to her. She declined and I still love her!

After reading so many really positive comments here, I was very underwhelmed when I actually went for the first time a few weeks ago. Beth was polite, but I wouldn't call her nice--as others have said, she doesn't really engage in conversation and you have to hope there is some other chatty stylist around to listen to. The cut I got was good, but it wasn't spectacular. She listened to my concerns but then did what seemed to me the easiest cut possible rather than making me look fabulous. And when you consider I paid close to $100 including tips, it really was not worth it at all. If you already have a stylist you like, don't switch to Fiddleheads in the hopes of finding something better--it's really not as special as others have made it out to be.

I was really unhappy with my cut from Beth. Although she listened to what I said I wanted she didn't execute it. The cut she gave me was fine but it wasn't the cut I wanted at all. Furthermore she took off WAY too much length. I expect that from hairstylists who don't work with curly hair that much but I don't expect that from someone who markets themselves as a curly hair specialist. I won't be returning to her and wish you luck if you go.

First, a caveat: During the over three hours that I was in the salon getting my roots (sort of) touched up, I watched Beth style three people's hair. All three cuts, two of them on curly girls, were nice. My appointment was with Vickie, whom I don't think has been to beauty school; she certainly would never be able to pass a licensing test. First, she almost used a non-permanent color on my 50% gray roots. Fortunately, Beth stopped her in time. Then, she mixed the color wrong (it was like water) and only left it on 20 minutes. Needless to say, the roots were still gray, but she couldn't see that. Beth came back from somewhere (I wish she had been watching what was going on), mixed the color herself, and told Vickie to leave the color on longer. Of course, the color burned like crazy; my scalp is still inflamed, not to mention dyed brown. There were other problems during the three hours, right down to the cashier over-charging me by $20, then not knowing how to do the refund. (No, not even an offer of a discount for all the bother I went through.) I hope there is some other salon in DC that will be able to cut my curly hair; I would dread going back to this place.

Every time I see someone with curly hair that I really like it always seems to be cut by Beth or someone at Fiddleheads. So I tried Beth and I really love my hair now. Although I am not sure about some of the advice (i.e NO SHAMPOO-I need to get used to that one)the cut is great and my highlights really look fantastic. Everyone loves my hair. I will go back.

I like Beth because she knows what she is talking about and she is always continuing her education with curly hair i.e she is always going somewhere for a class or a seminar to learn (not always on just curly hair but all types of hair, too). I always get a great a cut and color.

I heard Beth was a certified Devachan stylist so I checked her out. I am so glad that someone here in DC can cut curly hair dry. I used to live in New York and was very spoiled from the Devachan salons. Now I can say that I don't have to go back to New York just for a haircut. Beth also is an educator for The Devachan products and always has new ideas for me to try out with my hair. Some work, some don't, but she keeps on thinking!

Finally, someone who knows how to cut curly hair and dry, too. THe dry method takes a while and you need to show up with your hair in it's natural state (not up in a pony tail and then take it down). But it is sooooooooo worth it. The knowledge for this method is priceless. I highly advise going to Fiddleheads!

I would recommend Beth to everyone with curly hair. Tina and Lauren are experienced, too, although I know that Beth is definitely Deva certified from the Devachan Salon in New York. She gets backed up sometimes and can run a little behind but she is definitley worth it.

I just saw Lauren for highlights and a cut. Everything was PERFECT! She was able to give me exactly what I wanted, while still offering me suggestions of her own. I walked away with an amazing cut and highlights. I saw her cut another girl's hair while my highlights were processing, and the other girl's haircut came out looking amazing, too. I could tell the other girl was extremely happy. I will definitely be going back to see Lauren. My hair looks soooo good now!

I had a terrible experience trying to see Lauren at this salon. When I made my appointment, I was instructed that she takes an hour per apt, twice as long as all the other stylists. Reluctantly, I agreed. I arrived on time for my apt and witnessed one stylist working at the time and she was just beginning to dye a woman's hair. I sat and watched for 15-20 minutes. Finally, I realized this stylist must be Lauren and that she was severely running late. No one came to speak to me to tell me she was running late, that this was in fact Lauren and to ask if I could wait. I asked the receptionist if that was my stylist and asked if there was a time frame for when she might be done. Please note she had JUST STARTED dying this woman's hair. So I was expected to wait around for 30-45 min for my apt. to start and then an hour for her extra long haircut. I told the receptionist that perhaps I should reschedule and she said "Do you have other places you need to be today and cannot wait?" I could not believe my ears. I said, actually I took the train 45 min. for this apt. and cannot wait here all day. I have no intention to reschedule. This is not a client friendly salon.

Just wanted to second recommendations on this board for Fiddleheads salon at 17th and P in DC. I've been going there about a year now. Beth listens well and gives me a great cut, plus the salon has lots of good curly-hair products. Tina also does a good job. I also like the fact that it's very low-key.
