  I can't begin to say how long I have fought my frizzy hair. I feel like I spent much of my life trying to straighten my hair. I got Sandy's name from a friend of mine who has amazing curly hair and decided to stop fighting it and make an appointment. I must say, I never thought I would like my hair, but can honestly say I love it now. I feel like this has been such a freeing experience. Sandy has trained in New York to learn how to handle curly hair and gave me the best cut I have ever had. It was quite an education to learn so much about my hair, and not the negatives! I highly recommend Sandy for curls!

  I found Sandys name on this site and decided to make an appt. I was extremely happy from the moment I walked in to the moment I walked out. Sandy did an amazing job on my hair. I have never had anyone take the time on my hair and talk to me about my concerns (I am thinning a bit) as she has. She gave me a fabulous cut, I could tell right away. I learned which products were right for me and have since really been loving the Deva products I purchased. The salon itself is pretty amazing and I have been spreading the word to my friends about my wonderful experience. This is what going to the salon should be like! I have already made my next appt. with Sandy and am looking forward to it.

  I am 18 years old and I have always hated my hair due to its out of control curls. I have always dreaded haircuts because they served as reminders of how desperately I wished for straight hair. I have never worn my hair down in my life, I have always tucked it away in a tight and boring bun. Today I had my very first Curly Girl Haircut with Debbie and was blown away. It wasn't just a haircut, but an incredible learning experience. Debbie taught me how to manage my curls from the moment I wash them to the moment they are dry. I have never had such an engaged, friendly, and helpful hairstylist in my life! She is extraordinary!   I'm a waist-length wavy. I made an appointment with Sandy in Nov 2011 based on the reviews that I read. I have to say, I was very disappointed when I walked out and, months later, still not happy with the results. Sandy eliminated all of my layers, which has resulted in me having triangle-head (flat up top and lots of curl and volume at the bottom). I have given up on spending the time to diffuse, since I know it's going to look bad any way that it's styled. With regards to the way she applied product and diffused, all I can say is that I left the salon looking like I had strings hanging off of my head. Sandy is very sweet and likeable, but I wasted my money that day and have had to deal with continuous bad hair days since my visit.

  Let me start by saying that I never, ever write reviews online - so that means you know this salon is worth going to! I just left Santo's and I am amazed at the outcome from my stylist, Debbie. Last year, I was a wishful curly girl and thought I would try the Keratin Treatment in the effort of not having to battle the Ohio summer humidity. I got the treatment done at another salon, and loved it at first. However, as time went on I had no volume whatsoever and even to this day my hair has not returned to it pre-keratin state. I told Debbie about all of my worries: lack of volume, my curls were not where they used to be, and no stylist knowing how to cut curly hair even if they claim to be a specialist. She first asked about me, my life, and my hair. I have never, ever in a salon felt so doted on. Kudos to Debbie and the rest of the staff at Santos for actually being good at what they claim to do!! I will absolutely be returning to this salon for more curly girl cuts!

  Sandry may seem like a curl expert to those who don't know any better (AKA those who got their first curl cut at Santo) but I normally get my hair cut by a fabulous stylist in another city. Sandy does a cookie-cutter cut that doesn't work for everyone and DOESN'T LISTEN to the client, because she just assumes you don't know as much about it as she does. I was very disappointed in my cut and I almost cried afterward. She made my hair look flat and lifeless. I will be making the drive out of town to my usual stylist to try to rectify the damage, and in the future so that I don't have to go to Sandy at Santo again.

  I went to Santo Salon by a referral and was very pleased with Sandy. She really took the time to talk to me during a consultation and put my mind at ease. Especially since I had had so many bad experiences. She gave me plenty of helpful hints and used a product line called diva curl which I bought in the end. I have been very happy about how I have been able to manage my hair at home, since I never knew how to care for it before. It was a very good experience and I will for sure be back.

  I have seen Sandy at Santo Salon for a few years and have been very happy every time I leave. I love the dry curly cut and how the products make my hair feel. Sandy is always good about giving me useful tips I can use at home. I always give out Sandys name, and tell them to try the salon. They have recently moved and the owner has done an amazing job with every aspect, from the lighting, to the massage shampoo chairs. Also, the staff is very inviting and makes me feel very relaxed.

She uses the Deva curl products which I love. I haven't found anything else I like as much. The salon is also beautiful and offers many different services. The staff is also super friendly!

She has found ways to cut and style it to really fit with my active, no fussing lifestyle and gives me good advice about how to work with my hair as it is beginning to gray. She is a godsend after years of struggling with cookie cutter hair stylists. She is a real professional. It may seem that hair shouldn't matter that much, but when you want to feel your best it really does. I know with Sandy I won't get home and struggle with my hair until the next cut. She's great!

  I have been to many salons as we all have. Santo Salon seems to specialize in curly hair. It seemed like all of the clients had curly hair at one point. I love going to get my hair cut now, in a place that makes me feel like I am in good hands, as I know I am. Sandy does a great job with my curly hair and does a dry cut. Before going to Santos, I had never even heard of cutting curly hair dry. I am so pleased with the results. The staff is also very friendly and accommodating.

  If you haven't been to Santos, you need to go and see Sandy. She is great at making a head of frizz into a head of shiny curls. I always leave taking away a little bit of knowledge which really helps with my day to day style. I know she has done a lot of training for curly hair and it really shows. Sandy knows her stuff, and has curly hair as well.

  Ever since moving back to Cleveland 18 years ago, Sandy has been my stylist. Whether my hair is permed curly or back in its naturally straight state, Sandy always manages to make it look good. I always get compliments on both the color and cut. For my daughter's wedding, she did a wonderful job on both mine and my daughter's hair - as usual. After many years of hating my wavy but frizzy and unmanageable hair which was always wet-cut too short by stylists who did not understand wavy/curly hair, I discovered Sandy Marino and Santo Salon thanks to this web site. My first visit was for a consultation only as I was very apprehensive about having a curly cut. Sandy spent an hour with me, educating me about the nature of curly hair and how it should be cut, styled and maintained. She discussed hair products and which ingredients could be harmful and why. She introduced me to the absolutely best hair dryer and diffuser on the planet. She answered each and every one of my very long list of questions. Later, she phoned me at home to ask if I had any additional questions or concerns. Finally, last summer I took the plunge and let Sandy give me my first curly cut which changed my life. I now look years younger, no longer worry about weather frizzing my hair and cannot imagine life without my curls or Sandy. She is also an expert colorist and uses ammonia-free color which is much kinder to my eyes and hair. Sandy Marino is AWESOME.

  Look, we all have horror stories of our quest to find someone to properly cut curly hair. I even traveled to Columbus from Cleveland for 3 years to get my hair cut! From one (of the many) conversations you find yourself in with a fellow curly girl, I was told about Santo Salon and their knowledge of cutting curly hair . . . so I thought, what do I have to loose? I could save travel time, gas and a lot of aggravation. On my first visit, Debbie started by talking; she asked what I didn't like about my current cut, problems I had with my hair and then we browsed through photos of what my dream cut would look like. I had read about the "dry cut" and knew it made sense but I had never had any cut my hair in this method. Let me tell you . . . I was totally sold from my first cut. I had/have never been happier with a hair cut. Debbie takes her time to get to know you and your hair. She is professional and personable. Not only am I a convert, my curly haired sister and one of her friends is too!

In my adult life I decided to straighten it, hours and hours of straightening, chemical straightening (for a short time), bad haircuts, the whole nine yards. I can honeslty say for 20 something years I battled with my hair and could not stand it. There was even a period right before I started going to Debbie that I wore my hair in a clip (for months, everyday!). All I wanted was pretty hair, in its natural state!   I have wavy hair that flips up at the ends. If it's not cut correctly it looks ridiculous. When Sandy cut my hair it looked adorable and was almost care free.

  When I moved from MI to OH last year I was scared to death. Who was going to cut my culy hair? Thanks to nacturallycurly.com I found Sandy. She is amazing! She listens to what I want and does it. Although I'm not a fan of the curly girl products I love the cut and color. Santos does cost about twice my hometown salon but it's still a lot less then driving 5 hours home to get my hair cut.   I went to the Santo Salon and Spa in Pepper Pike (formerly in Beachwood) today and had the most wonderful experience. It was the first time I'd ever gotten a Curly Girl cut and it won't be my last. Sandy really took her time in talking to me about what I wanted. She has a warm and friendly presence and checked in every step of the way. Her product knowledge is excellent and she really showed me how to maintain the look I walked out of the salon with. I now have a cut that I can take from the gym to the red carpet. Oh yeah...I no longer live in Ohio (I've resided in Los Angeles for the last 10 years) but will definitely be going back to Sandy whenever I come to visit my family.   I went to Santo Salon a couple of weeks ago and got the Curly Girl cut. I haven't had a haircut in a year and this was my first visit to Santo Salon. First let me compliment Sandy. She was so informative and friendly that I was instantly at ease. She also has beautiful, curly hair and I knew that was a plus. She cut my hair, curl by curl, and used Deva products. I have been following the curly girl method for a year also, so I was pleased with the no sulphate products being used. I absolutely love my new cut. Sandy didn't cut any more length off than I requested and she showed me a better way to put clips in to give me some height on top. I'm getting pretty good at clipping now! My hair is so much more manageable. The entire experience was wonderful and the whole staff is so friendly. I will definitely go back.

  I went to get my hair cut the "curly girl" way today. It has been over a year since my last hair cut. I avoid getting it cut due to my fear of salons messing up my hair. I read all the great reviews of Debbie on here so I decided to give her a try. She cut my hair perfectly and listened to everything I liked and disliked about my hair and she listened and made sure to follow my tastes. She cut my curls one by one and made sure to shape my hair just as I had asked. She also made sure not to cut off more than I had wanted. I've been doing the curly girl method since March so I've grown accustomed to the products I use and the methods and I've gotten beautiful, clumpy, frizz-free curls from it. My only critique of Debbie would be that she touched my hair too much before it was dry, and I think this made it bigger and the curls less defined than I'm used to having. I did, however, purchase the DevaCurl ArcAngel Gel, which really enhanced my curls and made them smell great! I definitely recommend Debbie for a curly girl haircut!

  I went to this salon based on the reader comments from this site and I am so glad I did! I've never had my hair cut especially for my curls- stylists usually just straighten my hair and never work WITH my curls. But going to Santo was so different. My stylist was Michelle and she was great. She discussed my hair issues with me and we talked about the problems I've been having with my curls. My hair was too long, dry, and frizz-prone. I told Michelle I wanted my hair totally cut off, showed her some pictures for inspiration, and she took it from there. Throughout the cut and style, she gave me tips on how to do my hair, how often to wash it, how to style it, etc. Michelle was so informative and understanding. I will definitely be going back to see her in a few weeks!

  I went to Debbie for my first ever 'curly girl' hair cut and style. I read other reviews here and had to try this salon and Debbie. I am completely new at this curly girl thing and I am so glad I got connected to this salon and to this excellent person who really knows her curls. She too is a curly girl. I have short hair and am of the 'mature' group of ladies, being age 64. First she talked at length with me taking time to show me a whole set of photos of just curly girl hair styles and together we decided what was going to work for me and she got an idea what I liked too. She cut my curls dry, and one at a time. Then to the 'cleansing bowl' and she used Deva products, starting with Low-Poo, she had a special way of handling the curls even when they were wet so as not to cause frizzies. She used One Condition and was advising me on how I should put this in my hair so as not to disturb the curls. Then she used paper towel to gently dry the hair a little. she said I should use a cotton t-shirt at home to gently blot the wet hair after wetting and conditioning. She followed with AnGell to define the curls and Set It Free -- all Deva products. She used little hair clips on the crown to lift up some of the curls so they would dry with some height there. I sat under a heat lamp with very low flow of air. When I was finished she showed me how to finish the look by shaking the curls. I was so impressed with her knowledge of the Curly Girl method of cutting. She never rushed with me, and gave me endless information and tips. I will be returning in a few weeks to have color done by her. I am so happy to have been introduced to this great way to make my curls look so much better. I have never had such a great hair cut! Hands down, I recommed this salon and this hairdresser. The cost was in line with what I had been paying in a salon that had no idea how to really treat and handle curly hair. Fantastic, and I will be back.

  I've had 3 haircuts from Debbie now, and they are absolutely the best haircuts I've ever had in my life. She is trained in the Devachan method outlined in the "Curly Girl" book. She cuts the hair dry, washes it, and then fine-tunes the cut. She cuts each curl individually. Before I went to her, I struggled with the fact that my hair needed layers to have some style, but those layers often wound up as uneven chunks of hair that didn't lay right and looked like big dog ears. Even worse, I've had some haircuts from h*ll, where I've had to basically put it in a clip and let it grow out for a year or two, which is not especially flattering. But not any more. Since Debbie cuts each curl individually, there are no "steps" or uneven "poofs". Also, so many stylists cut hair in a way that requires blow drying and styling - but I always let my hair air dry. Debbie's cuts are tailored to air dry in the hair's natural curl pattern - and the curls lay really beautifully when they are cut this way. The DevaCurl products are very moisturizing and great for curly hair. I especially like the "One" conditioner. Debbie is very nice and friendly, and puts you at ease. She takes the time to teach you the tricks to make your hair look its best. Although the cut cost more than twice what I've ever paid for a haircut before, it was definitely worth every penny. She is the only person who I will ever to go to get my hair cut again in the foreseeable future. If you are looking for someone to transform your curls with most amazing haircut you have ever had - Debbie is the person to see.

Having discovered the CG method nearly 5 years ago, Debbie was the first stylist I'd found practicing the CG method. She listened to my hair story, shared her hair story, gave my curls the cut they needed and deserve, gave me the best color I've ever had, and taught me how to properly care for my curls.   Deborah is very enthusiatic about curls and fun to talk with. My hair was cut according to the Devachan method and came out well. It was cut dry, washed, dried with a heat lamp and then touched up. She has been trained in NY and gone back to observe another time. Very open to comments, suggestions and is a true believer in CG.

  I took my daughter to Debbie hoping she could transform a head of frizz back into the beautiful curls I remembered. She did a marvelous job. Nice springy curls. She cuts dry, washes, dries and then fine tunes. I'm very impressed.
