Eddy is everything the reviews say and more. More than just a curly hair genius, he's interesting, fun, and and understands the challenges of taking care of curly hair. No offense to the other stylists I've been to in Pittsburgh, but I've live here a year and a half and Eddy is the first one I've been to here that actually knows how to cut and style wavy/curly hair. If your hair is like mine, two or three types of curly in one head of hair, Eddy is your man!

Gary does a great job with curly hair. My cut is always natural and my color is great! So easy to talk to and distinctly not insufferable and egotistic like the last "curly hair specialist" I used in Philly.

Eddy is an artistic genius. He understands curly hair and its special needs. He used his talent and took advantage of my curl type to design a style that complements my face, my age, and my life style. I'm recommending him to all my curly haired friends. In addition, Eddy is a warm, friendly and considerate person.

I have many hair issues having had Chemo a few times and no thyroid. Sometimes my hair is curly, sometimes wavy, always thin. It just depends on how it decides to grow back after the Chemo. No matter whether it needs to be super short or I want it a little longer, Eddy knows exactly what to do. He is a hair magician. I have used other stylists in Pittsburgh who claim to know curly hair, and none compare to Eddy at Salon Cercone. The salon's only drawback is its location. It is on Ellsworth in Shadyside, so parking can be a problem -remember to take quarters. But, I actually live in Wheeling, WV and I drive the 1 1/2 hrs just to see him, even with gas at over $3/gal. He is that good. The entire staff is great and pleasant. I highly recommend any curlie to see Eddy

I think Eddy is the first stylist who didn't leave me crying as I walked out the door. He has curly hair himself, so he knows what it's like to have to deal with them. He always takes the time to listen to what you want, and he's just a very sweet person as well.

    Review:
Michael is great at cutting curly/wavy hair, and he cuts mine so it can dry naturally or I can style it several different ways. I love it! I've had my hair butchered in the past. Plus he is a pro at straightening it, if that's what your after. And now, he is performing the BKT treatment (non-formaldehyde, safe BKT), which is FABULOUS! He will include a shampoo and conditioner with the treatment, and the haircut is included. My hair is so smooth (no frizzes) and the treatment lasts for 3-4 months if you take care of it. Love it.

I don't know what happened to dobbysgirl but Eddy has my undying loyalty. He gave me the first haircut that I ever actually LIKED. Almost all his clients have curly hair because he knows what to do with it. I don't know what I'm going to do when I graduate college and have to leave.

Terrible. Absolutely awful. Do NOT go. He BUTCHERED my curls. I use to have (not to sound arrogant, but for an honest review) the most BEAUTIFUL curls ever. I went to him and he snipped until his heart was content and mine was broken. Please, do not go. It was my biggest hair mistake EVER.

After going to salon cerone and having Michael cut and color my hair, I seriously don't know why anyone hasn't reviewed him yet on here.... he is the FIRST person in Pittsburgh to give me a haircut that I actually like! I usually leave the salon feeling "okay" but this cut is just fabulous. He rescued my hair from a terrible cut I got at another salon (which shall remain nameless) and its even better than before! Definitely planning on going back!

I went to Eddy in the fall of 2006 after reading about him on this site. He gave me a great haircut and was very friendly. Unfortunately, I've since moved away, so I'm not able to go to him anymore. His Saturday appointments book up fast.

Eddy's great but the real curly savant is Gary. He's the owner and super nice. Best of all, he is brilliant with curls -- his many sisters have curly hair and he knows how to make curly hair gorgeous and sexy. I have really thick curls and Gary was actually able to give me the curly bob I've always wanted. You won't be disappointed! Sidenote: I once went to Marla at Luna Sea and she butchered my hair -- I came out with a huge, square haircut. It took MONTHS to recover from that Luna Sea cut.

Based on the raves here I made an appointment with Eddy. He lives up to the accolades and then some. I found him to be a very warm and friendly person, who really really understands curly hair. He discussed my face shape in relation to possible cuts. He improved on my exsisting style, gave me styling reccomendations, and even suggested some cheap but effective products for improving the quality of my hair. I was extremely pleased with my cut with him and have been back several times since. I will not let anyone else touch my hair for as long as I live in Pittsburgh, that is for sure.

I am a lucky woman because I stumbled upon Eddy completely by accident! I made an appointment at Salon Cercone when I first moved back to Pittsburgh several years ago because it seemed like a fun place, but little did I know I was getting a curly-hair expert! (And someone with a sweet personality too.) Eddy knows how to cut my curly locks so that they lay just right- even a month or more after my hair cut. I have never gotten so many compliments on my beautiful hair as I have since I've been going to Eddy. It makes me sad that I will be leaving the area in the near future, but I hope to find a stylist through this website who can do at least half as good of a job with my hair as Eddy.

Believe the hype- eddy is the best! He is warm, welcoming and takes the time to talk to you about your style and customize your cut. I have lived in Pittsburgh almost my entire life, and gotten cuts by some of the other stylists mentioned on the website, but no one comes close to the Eddy experience! He shows you how to recreate his style at home and has great reccomendations for inexpensive and homemade products- you get out of his chair feeling confident and beautiful. I am moving to NYC next week but will make an appointment every time I'm back home- I only wish I had found him sooner!
