Wonderful cut! I would definitely go to Michelle again, and she'll probably be my regular stylist from now on. She game me an amazing, short cut that looks great and doesn't even make me look like Carrot Top the way others have done in the past. She also recommended to me a great product to make my hair last all day with no friziness, but also leaves it soft and perfectly curly! Thanks, Michelle!

In order to fully appreciate how wonderful Michelle was, let me share a bit of history. I have short, 3b hair that I unwittingly damaged with a flat iron. I wanted to cut the damaged bits off and wear my hair curly. I first went to my usual stylist, who gave me a cut that looked great when straight, but awful when curly. But not to be dissuaded, I made an appointment with Michelle. She played with my hair and listened to my problems. She recommended a cut and style that would eliminate the rest of my damaged ends and would frame my face better and would not be prone to poof ( a difficult feat in Texas with hair this short). She told me to throw away my flat iron because not only is it so damaging but because my curls are so beautiful. She showed me how to style my hair and made some product recommendations (but was not in any way pushy.) On top of the fact that she gave me a beautiful cut that I am proud to wear, she was great to talk to--she has a full, real laugh and a sparkling that made conversing with her a real pleasure. (There's nothing worse than being stuck with someone for an hour in that awkward silence or lame chit-chat.) She was not too expensive, and the haircut I walked out of there with made me look and feel like a million dollars. I loved my experience with Michelle at Ann Kelso and I will absolutely be back.

I went to see Michelle based on the review here and I am THRILLED! I have always been a major hair hopper---from stylist to stylist because I never get exactly what I want. Michelle, who is also a curly girl, knew exactly what to do and I trusted her immediately. I got a fabulous new cut that I LOVE and she also introduced me to products that actually work for me. My curls have never looked so healthy or sassy! Michelle knows how to cut curly hair, she's a great listener, and she and I had a lot of similar opinions about products that are supposed to be for curly hair, but don't work for us. She is a gem, trust me. I am a hair hopper no more!

    Review:
First of all, Anne Kelso Salon is fantastic. It's a little pricy, but the service is great, they have lots of hip, curl-friendly products, and they have extensively trained stylists. Now I have baby fine hair with a very loose curl. When I go too long without getting my hair cut, the ends snarl together and drag down the rest of my loose curls. This makes it look like I have approximately twelve strands of hair. I've known I needed a hair cut for months, but I always dread getting my hair cut because I'm apparently terrible at telling the stylist what I want him/her to do. I didn't need to tell Willow what to do. I just sat down in her chair, she played with my hair, and I talked about what problems I have with it. I told her I hated my hair, I knew the last three inches looked as though they'd been caught in a very dull food processor, but that I'd like to lose as little overall length as possible. She smiled, said she knew exactly what to do with it, and went to work. She gave my scalp an awesome massage while washing my hair and was super friendly to boot. I walked out with a terrific layered cut that looks incredible whether styled curly or straight. My hair has bounce again, my curls look defined again, and I feel a hundred times better knowing that my hair actually looks good.

Had a great experience w/ Michelle at the Ann Kelso Salon on South Congress. She listened to me (try to) describe what I wanted and how much time I wanted to spend doing my hair each day, and gave me a great cut. Super nice, and she has curly hair too!
