  Besides being a great space, Estilo Valdez Salon is my one-stop-beauty-shop! I've been a client of Angela for over a year now and can honestly say it's been life changing! I get my color, cut, brow wax and Redken chemistry shot( I highly recommend) and have had a Brazilian Kertain Treatment to help eliminate most of my frizz! I went to Angela with unruly, dull color, shapeless curly hair and left with a fabulous mini make over. It's amazing how color, brow shaping and a few new products will do for a women! The greatest part is we worked out a maintenance plan to fit my budget so I can maintain my upgraded look! Angela really asks the right questions and listens to your needs! Go see her! Have your friends and family members see her for $$ off their first appointments! You won't regret it!

  Just had my first experience with Estilo Valdez Salon AND I Love, Love, Love my new stylist, Melinda! She definitely knows how to cut curly hair! When I walked in the door my husband was WOW, that's my Honey! It took me 14 years to find the right hairstylist here in Austin Texas but it was well worth the wait. She shocked me (which is hard to do) when she was blow drying and did the same routine I always do for my hair. No other hairstylist, except for my Jimmy in another state, has ever done the same routine. I have finally found his replacement .....only took 14 years! The 5 star ratings are definitely right on!!!!!

  I am always very nervous when finding a new hair stylist. Laura did a great job. She first cut my hair dry, and then went back through and made the ends even while it was wet. It's the first time in years, that my hair was styled after a cut and I didn't have to go home and redo my hair. I am very pleased with my cut and I am planning to go back. Plus this is the first Salon to follow up after my haircut with a personal call to make sure I was happy with it. That was a really nice plus and made me feel like they cared about my business.

  Melinda first did my color, which was fantastic. Not only did is last past 6- 8 weeks but she really gave suggestions on what would be best for my skin tone. I recently went back to get my curls cut and styled. I LOVE it. She has curly hair herself so she understand that how to get lift and the framing of your face without cutting too much. Melinda is great. I love going to her.

  I have been to this salon many times before, but just tried out Laura due to the fact that my hair was a mess! She was great, she gave me the perfect hair color and had a ton of pictures to show me different looks. They are definitely curl friendly!

  I'm a 27 yr. old with hair that resembled a mop atop my head. I always thought it looked okay. One day I went in for my normal cut at a new salon with a new stylist. Angela made some suggestions to make my cut more stylish. When she was done, it was a huge improvement. I kept all my hair but it now had shape...not a mop shape. Then a few months later, we decided to go shorter but I still wanted my curls. I've never recieved so many compliments. True story.

  I had my 3b hair cut/colored at Estilio Valdez last week, and it looks great! I am so happy with the color. I have red hair which tends to turn brassy with highlights, but they are exactly what I wanted and the cut is fantastic. This is the second time I have been to the salon, and it's safe to say they have made me a regular--I was a one-timer at quite a few salons here in town until now! Finally happy with my hair!

  I just got my (3b?) hair cut today at Estilo Valdez and I am very happy with the cut. I haven't had my hair short since I was in grade school, and I wanted to get it cut pretty short (now it's just below shoulder length), so I was nervous. The whole experience was great - they were very polite when I came in and offered me something to drink, which was nice. My stylist Laura seemed to really know what she was doing, and made me feel very comfortable. My last cut was at a school (biiiig mistake), and she was very patient when I wanted to show her some pictures on my laptop and talk about some different options. She cut a lot off dry and basically shaped the layers and then did a shampoo and finished cutting it wet. She also talked to me (and showed me) about different things I could do to get the look I want, knowing that I'm not going to spend too much time on my hair. The cut was $55 (+tip), at least 10, if not 20 dollars cheaper than a couple of the other salons I had considered, and Laura was great - it was definitely worth every penny. Laura also told me exactly which products I was using, and was honest about which ones she thought would or wouldn't be worth buying, but there was no pressure to buy any of their products, which was nice. I'm surprised there are not more reviews on this site, especially since this salon has won some awards in Austin for curly hair. I would recommend this salon to anyone curly or straight.

  This man definately knows how to handle the curlies! He is a curly himself, so he truly understands how to cut and shape curls for each person. I just had the Brazilian Keratin Treatment done and LOVE IT! I would recommend anyone who wants to get rid of most of their frizz to pay a visit to Ron and the rest of the Estilio Valdez team!

  I first of all can not figure out why Ron Valdez does not have any reviews on this website about him?? I discovered Estilo Valdez salon highlighted on this website and also in the review from the Austin Chronicle "Best of Issue" as the best salon for curly hair. Not only is Ron Valdez a total sweet heart but he is an amazing stylist. I have lived in Austin for 5 years and I feel like I have finally found the best stylist for cutting my curly hair. I have been to numerous people who claim to be trained in a certain curly hair technique but i think it just boils down to a stylist who developes his craft and has a natural ability to know curly hair. I also wanted to comment on the color. I have not been to a salon that uses Redken color before and I love this product. It is so much shinny then any others and this is the 2nd color with them and it did not fade as quickly. Melinda did my color and she was great also! I just can not say enough wonderful comments about this salon and the people that work there. Everyone was so friendly and the environment is so pleasant. I am so happy I found this salon. An additional note, this is also the first curly hair specialist that did not break my bank, what a treat. I would suggest anyone who is having difficulty finding a great stylist go see Ron.

  Buddy was recommended from this site and others. I am very pleased and tend to agree with the great reviews I have read. He's a wonderful, professional stylist. He offers a lot of honest advice and is one of the very few I have gone to that handles a head full of curly hair well.
