Not that my opinion really matters but I have to say you have really nice curls (and also nice colour). I know you don't like them that tight (you're 3b, right?) but I think if you grow your a hair, the curl might stretch a bit and you might like it better without the damage that the perm might do. Also I tend to find that more moisture and split-free ends tend to make my hair looser (provided that the weather is dry of course).
About getting something chemical done in your hair, I think a relaxer would give you the waves you want. I barely know anything about relaxers but I think they have degrees, so you can get something that is not too strong so it won't straighten your hair completely.
-3b, high porosity, medium/fine texture (I guess).

-lifeless, limp curls that need all sorts of protein in the universe.
