I've refrigerated some butters/creams before, but it was not to prevent microbal growth. It gets really hot in Texas, so I was just trying to keep them from melting.
4a/b, a little 3c at the crown; current faves: Anita Grant, Qhemet, Oyin...natural since 2000...(currently 15 inches)
