The water softener isn't working well? Bummer! I once lived in a house where there was one and I couldn't drink the water because it tasted salty so maybe it's the salt now that is giving you trouble. ACV rinses work pretty well and I think so does the "Lemon-Aid", which saves you one step. Just make sure to leave it on your hair a few mins. The only thing is that some people who have used these regularly have reported either that their hair lightened a little and/or dryness but if you use the minimum amount of ACV or lemon/lime juice that will do the job and do regular DTs and/or moisturize your hair frequently you don't need to worry.
