I would try this:

1. Wash with something that will remove grease and build-up.

2. Use conditioner and comb out thoroughly.

3. When you get out, apple leave-in, but go easy. Also, Apply hairgel. Once the hairgel dries, scrunch out the crunch. Stringiness should be gone.
