I take the hair from the top of the crown and squish it down. Secure it with hair pins (u-shaped). Continue to add hair section by section, securing with hair pins until all the hair is up. Adding one section at a time, you can control how the front of the hair looks. When you pin up the hair, you can shape the ends in pin curl shapes (optional), I didn't do this.
