I didn't have baking soda on hand, but remembered that my hair looks best/curliest in the summer after a lot of swimming in the ocean + conditioning for repair, so I actually tried a bit of sea salt and that seems to have helped the filminess. Odd, but I'll go with that for now, since I'm probably still transitioning.
