The Mitford series by Jan Karon.
YES! I got the first two for Mother's Day one year and stayed up all night reading them. Lovely, gentle reads w/o being saccharine.
Then yeah, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies was pretty good.
John Ringo's Council Wars fantasy series. For that matter, The Last Centurion by Ringo. Written blog-style...excellent book. Okay, I'll read anything and everything by him (good thing he's prolific!) and just started his new one, Live Free or Die.
My son wears combat boots (and a parachute).
So does my son-in-law.
The older I get, the less patience I have with cleverness. Thomas Sowell.
Resolve to perform what you ought. Perform without fail what you resolve. Benjamin Franklin.
Don't go around saying the world owes you a living. The world owes you nothing. It was here first. Mark Twain.
