Do you mean the store bought AVJ or the one you are planning to make. If you mean the store bought AVJ you have to refrigerate it after opening no matter what. However, if you make a "lotion" or solution as discussed above or any other type of product and add grapefruit seed extract or any other commercial preservative, you can leave it out in a cool dry location for about 1 week, maybe more if you test it out. But remember it has to be a commercial preservative not a food grade preservative like potassium sorbate or citric acid. Items with food grade preservatives must be refrigerated.
