I used BB's recipe as a base for homemade
(jojoba gel), because my hair hates aloe. After straining the flax gel, I added 2 teaspoons jojoba oil, 1/2 teaspoon vegetable glycerin, and 1/4 teaspoon methylcellulose (plant based thickener). The methylcellulose clumped and would not mix with a whisk, so I broke out the hand blender and that worked great to blend everything together.
I used the jojoba gel on freshly washed hair and really like it. It's not quite the same as
but makes for a decent substitute.
Pros: great frizz reduction, adds moisture
Cons: not enough hold
I'll try using a hard hold gel over this for more hold. I think the super soaker method would work great here too.
Type 2b. Wash: WEN pomegranate or fig. Leave-in conditioner: Alaffia beautiful curls for wavy hair, Spiral Solutions Protein spray. Style: Curls In A Bottle, Ecostyler, or KCCC.
