5 hours in a processing cap sounds like overkill to me. I think an hour is more then plenty.
I'd suggest trying a more moisturizing rinse out. GF triple nutrition is popular. Aubrey organics honeysuckle and rose is a stinky but good option. I've also read good things the curl junkie jar conditioners and the spiral solutions deep conditioner if you can afford to spend a little more. Kathymack from the board sells samples of CJ and SS.

9 hours is a long time to wait for your hair to dry. Sounds frustrating. Wish I could help.
