Oh! and on the original question, yes I knocked HOURS off my drying time by getting layers and learning to squeeze out a lot of the water with a t-shirt.
Mine took 24-36 hours when superlong, 12-15 hours when long but all one length, but now with shoulder length, lots of layering to take out bulk, and assertive scrunching with a t-shirt as part of the routine, 6 hours is about what it takes with no diffusing and only a couple of hours if I diffuse it for as long as I can be bothered to stand around doing it.
