BNessa - why do they suggest an induction at only 39 weeks for a first baby? Is there a medical reason? From what I read, your chances of a c-section are about 45% with an elective induction with a first baby.

Yes, they apply it and monitor you for an hour or two and if you are tolerating it ok they send you home and labour may start on its own - if not they may try it again the next day.
