Not trying to be mean, but I find this hard to believe you're talking about counseling in a professional setting. If a person's depression exists solely because of their hair, that sounds like it would be some form of body dysmorphia. And in that case it wouldn't matter what kind of hair they had because they would still feel negatively.

And if you mean counsel in a casual setting, there still is a larger issue at hand. Either way if someone is depressed about their hair, nothing anyone said (good or bad) outside of that persons head is going to change that.

No I am not a professional counsellor.

I am a lawyer and I run a non profit organisation which offers counselling.

I have no need to lie about anything.

The people I know who are depressed about their hair are depressed because of the comments made by others.

I posted a whole thread about one girl this happened to in the Hall of Shame section
