I do what Suzen does with one added step after I scrunch back in the curl to help with my underside. When I stand back up, I run my fingers up from the bottom just on the underside/back of my hair on each side. Kinda like an "underneath rake". It helps elongate my back waves/curls a bit but doesn't pull them out completely as my hair begins curling on it's own pretty quickly.
After previewing that, it almost sounds like I'm defeating the whole method
. My hair tends to clump in the back/underside, so doing that last step helps prevent that somewhat but doesn't lessen my curls.
