I use Suave coconut as a co-wash, and that has Cetrimonium Chloride in it. I can't say I've ever had a problem with it, but it also doesn't stay in my hair very long.
When I used to also use it as a leave-in, it didn't do a whole lot for my hair - it was pretty frizzy as first day hair and super dry by day 2. I've switched to Giovanni smooth as silk for my leave in, with some FSG on top (how much I use of each depends on the weather). The results are much better that way, and at $7-8 a 8.5oz bottle, I think it's worth it - I've seen conditioners at my store that are up to $18! Yikes...
type 3a/b, baby fine to medium, normal to high porosity except the canopy which is high.
recently chopped off about 4" - HOW LIBERATING!!! Learning to love my hair again instead of hating it for being a knotty mess.
