Some people do need more moisture in the summer, especially if you live in a very humid area. The idea is that if your hair is not fully hydrated, it will absorb moisture from the humid air, which causes frizz. In the winter when it drier, that problem is eliminated, so you may not need quite as much moisture. Also, some curls tend to go limp in the cold, dry weather, so a heavy conditioner might weigh them down even more. Isn't it great how every head of curls is completely different?
