wavyblonde: thank you! that makes me feel so sassy... lol!
wavie: i did the same thing. i mean, i knew i needed the cut, but i was going to just hold onto all that dead hair in a nasty bun everyday for months JUST because i was so scared of going short. because my hair has been midback all my life and i was horrified of looking like a boy. I'VE NEVER LOOKED MORE FEMININE IN MY LIFE, by the way. ;]
just do it!
it gives your hair a beautiful fresh start. (i started taking biotin now and strictly cowashing, so all the new hair i will have will be the best i've ever had!) and never ever forget, it will always grow back. and the shorter it is the more aware of that you become! i already notice it, because of how my curl pattern decides to make my style after i shower, and because you feel it on your neck (i kept freaking out the first couple days because i wans't used to it and thought it was some sort of bug on my neck. i kept wildly jumping up screaming and dancing, until someone would ask what was wrong and i'd realize it was my hair)
short hair is the best proof you'll ever have to show people just how confident in yourself you are though. i've been getting so many people say "oh my god you look amazing, but i could never do that"
and all i tell them is, "eh, who needs hair with this personality?"
it's all about you, and it reminds people that. you don't need to hide behind hair for beauty. everyone has hair, and chances are there are thousands of other people with almost the same hair as you. (granted i love long hair, it's gorgeous!) but if you have no hair, people are forced to notice your face, your smile, your laugh, and the person you are inside! the things that no one's got but you! and you'll learn how to work that talent! short hair can give you a certain edge and teach you a strength in yourself that you'll retain even when your hair grows out again.
