Yeah thats the back of my head. That picture was taken in May and I haven't had an trims since so its a little longer but otherwise exactly the same color and texture. The color isn't natural, its a subtle change from my actual hair which is a few shades darker. I dyed it with feria, and the first time I noticed no damage even if there was any (which works for me), but when I touched up my roots last month I put the remaining color on my already colored hair and that dried it a bit, however after conditioning it a lot ( I only use conditioner, no other product) my hair is very soft and feels healthy. It's not thick and never has been, maybe a bit thin but not stringy-however, I use a blow dryer to make it look big and also the natural elements of wind and sun help me out sometimes.
In any case, its a nice color but I'm not going to do any other root touch ups because I've decided once winter strolls around I want to get it dyed all over pink and purple. I'll definitely get this done at a salon because I know so much can go wrong, especially with the bleaching, and I think I'll be using the hair dye brand "directions" (La riche | Directions Hair Colour
) because its known as a more conditioning/less damaging brand for unnatural colors (though if I find/the salon has something even less damaging and just as bright I'll be going for that.) Until then I'll be doing a lot of deep conditioning and using as little heat as possible-the only heat I use anyway is a blow dryer because I love me some big 80s hair : 3 but I'll blow dry less often.
What I want to ask is if any of you curlies have experience with dying your hair something bright like this-especially if your hair is very dark and very very curly like mine. I know damage with bleach and dye is inevitable but I also know it can be lessened, and since I do embrace frizz I will be happy so long as my hair doesnt fall off or become pathetically thin, because I will still blow dry once its dyed because I want it to be voluminous-just have to use more conditioner (and I already use a lot but I wouldn't mind using even more). If it becomes a little less curly thats ok too, it will still be super curly haha, just no stringy curls please. I'm concerned about what salon to pick because I want one that specializes in bright dying but also has experience in bleaching and dying curly hair, which may be a bit difficult and I wouldn't want to take a risk because I'm under the impression curly hair is easier to damage when bleached. I live in NYC and I'm willing to go to New Jersey, so please-reccommend me any salons in these areas that you know specialize in this! So yeah...advice? Pictures? Anything? lol, please do share : )
