Another idea might be to just cut the straighter part shorter. I usually have my stylist do this, as the very bottom layer is so much straighter than the rest, esp the sides. We just snip it off until it looks even, even though it's not. I don't know if you straighten but it shouldn't matter. That's the only way I've been able to deal with those rebellious straight strands!
