I've found that the IceQueen method actually makes my hair get less clumpy. once you flip your hair right side up it all pulls apart if you have long heavy hair like I do.

I can get pretty decent clumpage by not rinsing out all of my condish, then gently scrunching in some gel with both hands, finger curling some of the funkier pieces, then carefully draping a tee shirt under my hair so it's not dripping down my back. Air dry and voila. Clumps.
