I finally did a protein treatment! I used Sally's Ion Repair Reconstructer followed by a DT. I don't think my hair liked it. It's not terrible or damaged looking, but it seems drier than it started out. I think for now, I'm going to stay away from the protein in PT's, but not get crazy about protein in regular products. I'm not sure I'm protein sensitive, I just don't think I benefited from it at all. I think I just need moisture, moisture, and more moisture.
At this point, I'm pretty sure that the original breakage I talked about was from the Coconut oil. Now, I wonder if coconut oil is no good for my hair, or if it's just the way I used it (Alone on dry hair as a pre-poo for 30 min). I wonder if I can use small amounts mixed with products. I'm afraid to try it though.
