I second the vitamin E! I had 3 foot surgeries in the span on 1 year. One scar was large, and on the pad of my foot, and the other 2 ran down the length on my big toe's. Vitamin E was recommended to me by my pediatrist, local health food store owners, and 2 women who work in health/nutrition services. I did it, and you would have to use a magnifying glass and spot light to see my scars.
It works best when applied daily, and then exposed to sun for no more than 10 minutes. The combination of E, and Vitamin D from the sun, speed up the healing process and further reduce scaring. I'm not sure how easy it is for you to expose the area now, due to the weather where you live, but taking vitamin D (eating/drinking things rich in it) might help if it's not a valid option.
When I hear terms like "hipster" I think, who told cliques they could leave high school??
