I am not understanding this " people make a joke out every what is my hair type post". I've seen plenty of posts where people genuinely went in and helped... or empty posts because people didn't respond because they didn't have anything to say. The posts that usually end up with mocking are the ones where people keep trying to persuade the answerer to answer the way the wanted them to. For an example if someone tells you, it looks like you are 4a and your response is to post with yet another bite size pic of 2.1 inches of your new growth... then clearly you don't want to believe what that person says. Or the latest debacle where you want to count every drop of non black blood to explain away why your hair looks heat damage and how you really think you are 3a. C'mon.
And I am one of those people who don't buy into hair typing. I don't think people are insinuating that all of our hair is the same anyways, just that looking at your curl pattern only
, will not help you in the long run. Hell, my hair "curls" just like Nap85, but you better believe 99 percent of her hairstyles don't look the same on my head, no matter how much I would like to achieve that appearance.
Furthermore, comments like " I haven't seen the same dynamic in the 2 or 3a/b forums when it comes to these hair type questions. "
are quite divisive and lets be honest... a not so subtle way to throw shade. Time after time, it's been said that folks over here have no cut cards, and will tell you like it is. Being blunt and honest is a positive trait in my opinion. I rather have someone tell me my hair looks raggedy due to heat damage when it does, than 'oh you have beautiful, lovely curls'-when that is not the case. The people who either addressed their beef in a mature way or chose to ignore mocking are the ones who stick around. For the others, I guess the heat was too much for their kitchen ( pun kinda intended.).
